Very personal question. I think that it is different for each of us. I would prefer that you define it for yourself.

You sure are asking some personal questions....Sounds like a personal problem to me...

I think it is just a "make a first aid kit", whatever that means to you.

As to the questions above - Yes!

Just think, if one of the other nine topics were picked?

TJ - Since the topic selected was "nominated" by Intothenew - sounds like whatever you want it to be. For me - the one I make will be intended for day hikes.

Personal is good, but hard to judge against others once you get past the basics. Obviously my kit will be very different from SD's.
The winner will be picked based on what exactly?

No doubt about that...but I was under the impression that this would be up for a vote. (Maybe I have it confused with BIF.)
    Never mind.

B - there's no vote on these "challenges". Just the experienced gained and shared. We'll still vote on the BIF.

The inherent beauty, that I see, in this place is the diversity. That is in the demography and sociology. I would hope that these exercises would show that diversity.

I used my personal first aid kit yesterday out at the hunting camp. After clearing trails we were doing a little target shooting and one of the guys shot himself with the stapler. I whooped out a cleaning pad and a bandaid.

I remember one time while camping with some Boy Scouts, the scoutmaster got a good size piece of wood stuck in his hand. By the time the boys were done with him they had treated his hand plus removed his appendix with a swiss army knife. No Kidding, it really happened!

Here's my entry. I still need to add a couple of items (triangular bandage, safety pins, flashlight, Benadryl, lighter) that I left out.

Here's my personal first-aid kit, I cleaned it out and restocked it. It's kept in a waterproof bag attached to my lumbar pack that I take with me everywhere.

I think this is answering TJW's question. Different folks have different kits depending on what they want to use them for, their geographical location and even their vocation.
The kit I have with my camping gear is very similar to yours, PGV, which goes to show that how we want our FAK to perform is definitely influenced by our needs. You have given me a few other ideas to improve it. The little kit I put together is all I want for my handbag(there's little room for anything else!) and was all I needed to put together at this time.

The above first-aid kit serves me in most situations, I have it with me when I'm outdoors, at work, traveling, and doing scouting activities. When I'm guiding clients I carry a more comprehensive kit but otherwise this one works well.

Many of the first-aid needs that arise can be addressed by a smaller kit. Everyone should have a basic kit that they can have available where ever they are. The most basic would be a band-aid in your wallet or purse. A old time friend with over ninety years of life experience says "a band-aid in his wallet and a pocket knife is all the first-aid kit he needs".

This is a good exercise for everyone to do, the "personal" approach allows you to make a kit for your needs.

I learned - shortly after I began making knives - to always keep bandaids in the wallet. When I was younger it was ........oops........never mind.

    Default The Brown truck

I wasn't ready, neither was my local supplier. I had to wait on "The Brown Truck".

    Prep:

Last week, I tried to decide which to tackle. The one on the right is for my motorcycle, the one on the left is for for foot travel of any kind. The red bag is FA, black bag is PSK in both cases.

    On foot, the total,

    FA only,

    The bike total,

    And FA only,

Why the difference? Certainly it's much easier to carry weight on the bike. But am I short?

I order three of the small kits that I typically use on foot. I have the varmints in mind post this exercise.

    Enter the Brown Truck, today:
