Default Wolf Pack Winter Gathering & Workshop

Hey lets have a winter gathering. Call it a Winter Wilderness Survival Workshop, we could rent a USFS Cabin near Cooke City, Montana (Yellowstone Park) and have that as a base camp, but then we could build snow caves, set-up wall tents, tipis, use sled dogs, snow shoes, etc... and practice all kinds of winter skills. Plus, we'd have the opportunity to see lots of actual wolves, as YNP is legendary this time of year for wolf watching. Mid- Febuary sounds good to me. With gas prices being cheap, I think alot of you folks could make an epic drive and get here for it!

I'll gladly host it, and line- it all up. I can even provide some winter clothes to you more southern individuals who might not have the right stuff.
This could be a lot of fun!

YNP is a bit out of my range. I'm a delivery consultant so I need to be able to jump on a plane to a client sight within a couple days notice. But that doesn't mean we can have only one workshop... maybe have one in Yellowstone and another one in the Adirondack on the east coast?

    Montana, sure why not.

Excellent! Let's try to get some more people in the northeast ready, willing, and able and we can work out a tentative time frame.

Hey what about a gathering in Ely, MN in the Boundary Waters country? We could still make it a winter workshop. But, it would be in striking distance for folks from all over.
    Thoughts???

Default Wolfpack Map Locations (visual aid)

Ok, let's start by finding our locations. I made a public google map. Place a marker in your general area so we can see where the most members are located. We can plan from there.

I may need your email address so google can add you as a "collaborator". I don't know why I just can't let everyone edit it, but I guess it's for the best. Let me know if you need help.

I'm always interested in a rendezvous, I'll keep an eye on this thread. I'm moving after the first of the year and the place needs a lot of work, but I believe I could make some time. Something not so far west in the winter would be better for me. This summer though I could make it out there. Good Luck.

I believe what you are trying to achieve with the map can be done with Frappr.com.

I'd be interested in either location, Ely would be closer for me but I have always wanted to make it to Montana. I work every weekend, so middle of the week would work best for me. I realize that this probably wouldn't work out well for most of the rest of you, but maybe there could be some overlap or something.

I think that there are about 10 of us from Florida, then around 5 from Georgia alone. With the weather getting worse, along with the rough icy roads, travel will be harder for us. I myself, just got back last week from the Colorado Rockies after 2 weeks there. So I know I'm not doing another drive like that again now. But that's just me. I hope that there is a good turnout for your Gathering & Workshop! Gee I wonder if Chris will get a WSF Jet for us to use for these Gatherings!

Problem with north of L. Superior is it's remoteness. Yes it'd be great for natural beauty but few of us can get there within a day.

I am still interested, and I'm willing to do a different location. Because, I realize getting to Cooke City is not easy for anyone other than me. But, it is a super cool spot

O.k. I'm gonna just throw out a few places and see if they spark any interest.
Black hills SD., Theodore Roosevelt National park ND., George Washington state forest MI., Rocky mountain national park CO. Just a few ideas. Ive been to RMNP and the black hills don't know anything about the others just pilled them off the map.
