I am an EMT in detroit, Home is about an hour away from work. I have at my disposal, several feet of medical tubing (drinking straw, lashing) O2 (curious if it would help start a fire) cigar lighter, fuel card (i am told you can go for a week without them finding out about it) first aid kit, Cot (bed, wagon). emergency blankets, sheets. I carry a surefire G2led, leatherman, folder knife, water bottle, lunch, Tom Tom, 10 feet o cord (thanks sam) and without a doubt the most important part of my workplace survival kit
    My partner.

I am lucky here also in that I basically work from my car (law enforcement). Besides the ususal: multiple flashlights, rifle, back up on my ankle, radio, first aid kit, computer...with wireless internet : )
I also have a case of water in my trunk and my backpack with extra clothes, food, stove, headlamp, hiking boots, etc.

It sounds like overkill but it either all sits at home or here in my trunk.

i work at loomis armored transport so im usually in a truck or in the vault. lets see if i were in the truck at the time shtf i would have a little first aid kit that the truck is equipped with. i could use the trucks siren to get attention. the truck also has a crash kit which has flares that i could use to start a fire, the kit also comes with a camera. the only water i would have is my hydration pack. i would also have my firearm.

Indiana Camper - It's never overkill when you need it.

Tonester - You probably have one of the safest places to stay, inside the truck. It's dang near bomb proof so it would be hard for bad weather or bad guys to get to you (I hope).

Here's another thought I'll throw out for you. A good many of us need meds to keep it going or keep it going comfortably, whichever. Do you also plan for that aspect?

I spend alot of time in hotels. Like Rick, I have a list of items from the room that would be beneficial. Cords, coffee pot (if metal), shower curtain, shower curtain rod or clothing rod, metal form the clothes hangers, blanket, water bottle, trash bags, towel, apiece of mirror, and a pillow case to carry the junk. Next stop, the kitchen for a knife, cleaver (axe), pot, utensils. If things are really ugly, next stop, the hotel van. I'm outta here.

Don't forget the fire equipment, hose, fireax, and such. Also the room service carts are gold mines.

As I said, lake on property, fire from all the papergoods and such, food from the breakrooms and cafeteria, shelter can be made from the cubicle dividers, the medical part i am working on. And my kit sits on the desk with me, so if it blew away, well, so would I ...

TS has already hit the fan!!! It's like a huge barge crashing into the dock, slow but sure. It's been happening for years now, but seems to be more obvious these days.

I'm pretty set at work. If I have to hunker down my office is solid concrete (including the roof) and has a propane powered generator to keep things running. If I have to hit the road I have 5 highways within 1/2 mile to get rolling on. My work truck is an F-350 with satelite phone, 2 first aid kits, a small BOB, come-along, generator with 6 gallons fuel, chainsaw w/ fuel, shovels, tarp, fire extinguisher, hand saw, hand tools, 300' of rope, my coveralls, 2 jackets, 2 knives, 2 head lamps, flash light, 5 gallons of water, and never less than a 1/2 tank of fuel. Home is 6/10ths of a mile away so I can probably grab a couple rifles and my personal BOB. Deer seem to love commiting suicide on my grill so food should be plenty. lol
I cover 3000'+ square miles by myself so my employer keeps me stocked pretty good in case I get stranded in a blizzard, broke down, etc...
edit: forgot that I have a 2-way radio, 6 thinsulate gloves, 2 leather gloves, two warm hats, rain gear, snow shoes, and a GPS. But the CD player is broke. lol

Since I no longer work in a static environment, I make sure that I have available in my vehicle a suitable pack and a smaller compact version on my person.

I have it good and bad at work. The bad is that I commute by rail these days, so going home will be on a bike for 30 miles. I keep a bike at work.

On the good side is I have a mini-BOB on me at all times which contains a good sheath knife, 50 ft of paracord, a poncho, lighter, headlamp, goggles, a liter of water, some meds, Whistle and some other goodies including gloves and a bandanna.

At work I am the department Safety coordinator in addition to being the IT manager and a member of the CERT Team. So in my office I have a CERT bag that contains all my CERT gear including hard hat, gas mask, goggles, gloves, Pretty orange CERT vest, 2 liters water and a box of power bars, 4 cell mag light, Energizer headlamp, extra batteries, an Eton crank radio, Extra change of clothes and 2 pair socks, Duct tape, caution Tape, some baggies, Toe tags and sharpies, a notepad, GMRS radio with charger, roll of Flourescent Engineers tape, 3 bandannas(Never have too many of these... and a fleece blanket. Steel toe boots are attached to the outside.

In the office itself we have backup power. I also have keys to the rescue boxes on campus which are 10' conex boxes filled with rescue supplies, tools, food and water. My job is to stay 72 hours if called and help with triage in my area and also to dispense supplies where needed.

In addition to all that, we have 3 large labs where we break things and have heavy lift equipment including fork lifts and portable cranes, all kinds of Hydraulics and haz-mat chem handling equipment.

I will be fine, but I do worry about my wife and youngest child. We have a plan and the boy is to go home, if allowed by the school, Wife will do the same. She has a full kit in her car including 2 gallons water and a pair of boots, a big *** knife and a can of bear repellent.(BIG Pepper spray). She also has a GMRS radio so maybe she can call me if Cells are down...

I'm kind of lucky in this. We have vending machines at work, a super market across the street and a state liquor store next to that! Our plant manufactures stuff and has enough manual tools as would be necessary to make any tools I'd need.

As a env. tech, I have a truck equipped with a variety of tools, water, first aid supplies, food, sometimes a generator, rope (alot of rope) shovels, picks, axes, bailers which will come in handy for retrieving water from very deep wells. Also have a few hazwopper suits, resp., ahhhhhhh just the gen. crappolla.

Take a moment this week and ask yourself...if TSHTF right now (pick your poison), what is at my disposal that I could use to keep myself alive. Can you come up with enough items that you can carry on your person to cover water, fire, shelter, medical and attract attention?

Let's see how innovative you are. Your answers will vary depending on your job but list them out here and let's see what we can learn from each other.
When I'm at work and TSHTF, my job is to go to the fan and remove the S from the fan blades.
