    Default I'm fix'n to rant!

Seems like I've been hearing a lot of B.S. about when TSHTF lately. Laying around here with a broken ankle leaves me with a lot of time. I just finished listening to about an hour of "Conspiracy" radio. What the he77 are some of you people thinking? The world has been ending since man put his pathetic feet on solid ground. TS ain't gonna HTF. The world is not going to fall into chaos. At least not in your lifetime. Some people have watched to many Mad Maxx reruns. For those of you I have struck a nerve with this...GET A GRIP. Pack your family up and take them camping or hiking. Start enjoying life and quit worrying about TSHTF. If you want to fret about something. Try making sure your children are learning good, clean, honest values. If you think you are impressing anyone with how well made you B.O.B is.....Well you're not. Tell me about the kit you take with you and your son on your overnight fishing trips. Spare us your dribble about how your Bushmaster AR15 with 10,000 rds of ammo is going to keep your family safe from the hoards. Sell 9,000 rds of that ammo and buy a nice little .22lr and tell us how you are teaching your 9 year old daughter to shoot.

Ok, I'm done ranting. Oh I feel so much better...
    1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless.
    2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.

I'm in your corner on this one. But I do know that if TSHTF it won't be evenly distributed. Fans are just like that. I will say that a BOB should be an essential part of your planning. The folks in New Orleans probably know all too well about that since they have been ordered to evacuate. A BOB just makes that job a lot easier because everything is already together.

I doubt you have too much to worry about a chemical truck wreck or a meth lab or a train derailment where you live but for the rest of us those are every day realities that could prompt you to evacuate your home. And in those cases you just don't have a lot of time to grab auntie Martha's favorite recipe on plum pudding. And if you do you might just forget your anti-panic during a SHTF pills. Put both in the BOB and you're all set.

If you sip a bit of Full Moon Cider while you listen to that radio program you'll find it gets pretty mellow after a while. Most things go better with Cider.

Rick and Remy make very valid points, and I agree and prepare for possibilities that may arise. I do believe that KLKAK (don't want to put words in your mouth) was talking about all of the Doom and Gloom End Of The World Collapse Of Civilization talk that is taking place on "conspiracy" radio, and to some extent on this site.

yea, the reality is that there are millions of fans world wide [some bigger than others] and people persist to 'S' into them on a more or less regular basis. i still maintain the possibility of any large scale emergency occurring at almost any time though. i don't loose sleep over it, though i do loose sleep over it sometimes when it happens, like this sad war we've got going; a drop in the bucket as wars go, but hurting people i know and love none the less.

enjoy what you've got and and take the family camping is probably the best advice in either event.

Well I'm not into alot of SHTF stuff, but I made a BOB just to do it and keep it in my big azz gas guzzling SUV, but I think sometimes a SHTF scenario makes good survivalist convo, and I think if people wanna come on here and talk about shtf situations or think its coming then let them, makes good convo, do I think its coming in the near future? No, not in about another 100 years, nor do I really care if it comes now or 100 trs from now. So if you don't like the shtf talk then don't read it.
Klak, hope I didn't make you mad that was not my intention and I agree with 99.9% of your post just not the selling of the rounds, keep them and buy another gun 22lr to add to your collection or better yet buy a flintlock and teach about our history.
    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Crash and Beo,
I of course was talking of the Doom & Gloom type stuff. I to believe in being ready in the event of a natural disaster or some such thing. My wife and I are saving money to buy a 10kw multi-fuel generator for our home. Our home is the place where the kids are supposed to come in such an event. You might ask "Why such a large generator?" I would then have enough electricity to help the other 14 families in my neighborhood. In the Bible in proverbs is says "Cursed is he who hordes in time of famine but blessed is he that sells".

When I made the post that started this thread I was full up to my eyeballs and need to vent. I'm not as eloquent as Remy so I just type it as it went though my brain.

Klak I understood what you were saying, I agree sometimes the doom&gloom gets old here. Doom and Gloom End Of The World Collapse Of Civilization talk that is taking place on "conspiracy" radio I've never heard of it, but then again I don't listen to the radio much, I listen to books on CD and now am listening to The Shawnee and the war for the Ohio Country. Mostly history I listen to.
I actually ordered Cody Loudens survival book on CD as I've never read it. Should be in soon.

We envision our home as a focal point. Where the neighbors can share info, take showers, cook food and so on. Our neighborhood is on a community well. The man that runs the well says the system can run off a 2.5kw generator. The big generator we want to buy will be set up to run on Natural gas but can be easily converted to diesel. Our biggest expense and trouble is getting the diesel tank installed.
