Good for you! Let's hope your wife's arrives quickly too.

My wife and I are attending a Utah CCW class tomorrow morning. That will net us 5 additional states including Ohioinski to our east.

Rick, are they giving the Utah class in your state just for this purpose?

I did not know Ohio did not honor the Indy CCW permit???

They honor my KY permit and have for years, even when Ohio was stingy with their own. One of the major reasons I got a CCW was for use in Ohio.

Going across that River is enough to scare a southern boy to death!

One metro area of 1.5 million people with a river running through the middle of it. North of the river there are 200 murders per year, many on the street in broad daylight. South of the river there are a dozen deaths per year, most being domestic or accidental. Parking and walking to a Reds or Bengals game is considered a near death experience.

    Thanks Rick,

We are trying to fight the liberal tidal wave here.

They're giving the Utah class here in the Commiewealth.
Problem is we are land locked by N.Y.
None of the states up here in the N.E. seem to agree on gun laws.

Ky - Yes. The instructor is Utah certified so we can take his class and sign up for the CCW. Indiana does not require a safety class for a carry permit. It's just an on demand state. Consequently, several states won't recognize us because there is no safety class required. I think the safety class thingie is why Ohio won't recognize us. We do them. My gun club is putting it on for anyone wanting to get their Utah CCW.

Congrats LLT. Too bad you have to jump through all those hoops - too bad any of us have to jump through any hoops - we all do what we gotta do and keep fighting the good fight.

Delaware doesn't honor Indiana because of the lack of a gun safety course requirement. They dropped Virginia back in January because of that, but VA still honors my DE resident permit. Go figure.
Pennsylvania does honor Indy though, and I have a PA non-resident permit that is honored by Indy so I'm good there.
    I think.

I fear the day when I get pulled over and the officer asks if I have a permit. Then I pull a deck of licenses out and ask, "What state am I in?" A national reciprocity law would make it soooo easy.

Landlocked by NY. Yes we are. Supposedly you are able to pass through Newyorkistan if you are going to a place that recognizes your license. Probably not a good idea to do something that would get you a traffic stop on the way.

GOAL is saying the pepper spray passed as available to anyone over 18. They haven't updated the Senate Bill text yet, so who knows.

Eee, a Shield with a MA trigger?
Let me know what you think of that.
Tried one at a S&W try-a-gun party a while back. Did NOT like, and I'm not a gunsmith either sooo....

It's tight, but, not too bad.I'm new to this so it's safe.
Later I can always have a trigger job done.
I did a lot of online research before I decided on the shield.

My wife and I did the class today and got fingerprinted. I'll be shipping the forms off Monday. Utah has an interesting law that they must provide your permit to you within 60 days even if the background check is not complete. They issue a provisional permit. The class was a safety course and review of prevalent laws. A refresher is always good. The instructor did make one statement that I thought was both interesting and profound. He said if you have to use your weapon the chances are good that the assailant will be between 14 and 24...just kids to us. You have to think about shooting kids and not hesitate because of it. The one and only time I've pulled my weapon was on a 19 year old. Obviously a 14 year can kill you just as dead as a 50 year old but we might tend to hesitate because of the young age. I thought I would share that as food for thought.

Rick, that is a good point. I guess I always had it in my head that an assailant was going to be in their 20s. But you know what? The older I get, the younger 20 looks these days.

Woot! Our Utah carry permits were waiting on us when we got home. It would have been nice to have had them on the trip since Nebraska and Minnesota don't honor Indiana permits. Still, we have them now and that adds five more states we can carry in!
