    Default Medical Supplies on Hand

I did it AGAIN. I've been sitting in the dark most of the day - between naps - because last night I tore a cornea for probably the 20th time. I sleep with my contact lenses in - been doing it for over 40 years. Every couple of years - rrrrrip.

It'll be fine by the morning. It always takes only 24 hours to heal up. It's already much better.

Today was just a joy. Light kills. Eye patches don't help much. Fortunately, my eye doc keeps me stocked with the necessary eye drops that make it bearable. Top door shelf in the fridge - that's where I keep my cold meds. Nuthin' like having supplies on hand.

I stopped wearing contacts a few years back. Hadn't slept in them in a while, but found them to be increasingly uncomfortable.

Got my first pair in 1968 - when the semi-soft ones came out. They've gotten better and better over the years. I hated having glasses fog up when I came in from the cold (not a problem in Florida, I suspect) and having raindrops all over the lenses.

With overnight contacts, I can see clearly the second I open my eyes when I wake up. No need to put my glasses on before I take aim, LOL.

I'll stop by my doc's house early tomorrow morning. I even know how he takes his coffee - medium dark roast, skim milk. Yuck.

He STILL owes me for a prank he pulled on me in Lisbon 20 years ago. And for another prank he pulled on me this summer.

I should ring his doorbell around 4:15 a.m., that's what I should do!

Mr. B had Lasik 6 yrs ago and it transformed his life. Worth considering if you're a candidate for it.

I am, but my doc STILL doesn't think that eyesight is something to mess with.

Lasik is beyond experimental now...it's run of the mill surgery. Your doc, I assume, is of the over the hill variety.
    Time for a second opinion.

In some ways yes, in some ways no. He's a few years older than me. His wife is 37. She could be a model. They've been married 12 years. You go, Lou!

    What a cliche!
Instead of distracting himself with a much younger wife, maybe your doctor needs to get hip with the latest advances in medicine. But then, as long as he has an aging clientele who thinks he's cool, I guess he can coast like this til he retires...if he's bride lets him, that is.

Stay up on latest trends........Young trophy wife. Wow. Not much thought has to go into that one. Trends don't sway me.

I would never put something in my eye voluntarily. It kills me if there is eye surgery on television. That's just so....so....not cool.

Advances in medicine is not about the latest trends.
Shoulder, hip and knee replacement surgery isn't about following trends. Taking your gallbladder out laparoscopically instead of cutting you open isn't done because it's trendy, but because it's safer, less painful and less time is spent on recuperation.
Tooth implants aren't done because they're trendy...of course you can always choose to mess with bridges and dentures if you want to stay traditional.

Actually my wife had her gall bladder removed that way and she has a tooth implant. She's working on a second new once because of a failed crown. I think she has the post implanted next month.

How's this. Reading up and practicing on new cutting edge procedures that will change medicine forever.....trophy wife. Not much thought has to go into that one. I'm not a doctor. Better?

None of my business if a doctor chooses to spend his time on a trophy wife vs. getting acquainted with the latest advances in his field. Now, why someone would patronize a Dr. like that is beyond me. Which is why I suggested to Ken in post #8...time for a second opinion. Unless, of course, just the mere thought of your doctor taking your money and spending it on a trophy wife is making you feel better.

Only when going from the icy AC inside to the hot humid air outside. Only a problem then.

    Who loves you, baby?
Ken started it when he drove his own the thread into a ditch with post #9. I'm just having fun.

I have been wondering about the best approach with my "primary healthcare provider" for asking him to write me an "extra" script for my wife's anti-inflammatory meds. He is her doc also and he is usually pretty open minded about that sort of thing. So what do y'all think? Straight out ask him for a "just in case" script or subterfuge?

I have to admit that what I've done once is say I needed extra drugs because I was going to be away for a month and a half and this was just to CMA. In fact, I was gone 3 weeks so I stretched it a bit. If I had a close personal relationship with my doc (you know where we banter about life and hobbies) I'd ask straight up.
