After you boil your potatoes don't throw out the water!! Some of the starch in the potatoes will migrate into the water. What you have is potato starch that can be used as a thickening agent for your mashed potatoes, soups, stews, gravies and even breads. It can used in place of regular water.
If you are allergic to wheat or corn you can use it instead of wheat flour or cornstarch as a thickener. It's also gluten free. Plus you get some of the vitamins that were in the potatoes.
If you aren't going to use it right away you can store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours or freeze it.
AND....you can use it to clean carpets, wool garments and delicate clothing. Crazy huh?
