We are helping my mom move into her new apartment in Nashville tomorrow, she took a accounting job at Tractor Supplies national headquarters. She will be staying there through the week and coming home on weekends. Eventually if the job goes well the whole clan may be moving down there.

Good morning fellow survivors! There is a heat wave this morning and it is 37 degrees here. I feels like spring after being so cold all last week! By the way, good morning and howdy

I'm just here to grumble this morning.

We have had an almost snow-less winter here in the near north of Ontario. The greatest accumulation we've had thus far this winter is about 5 inches, which isn't enough to enjoy snowshoeing in the woods, nor have I been able to do any igloo camping. This is the third straight winter in a row of decreasing snows in this area. And to top it off, it's snowing heavily right now, but the forecast for tomorrow is 40-50 mm of rain with a high of 6 degrees C above freezing.
I expect I'll be looking at a green lawn again by the day after tomorrow. Sigh.

Yeah global warming is changing things for sure! We are getting much less snow as well! I honestly think that some southern and western states will be uninhabitable within another 20 years, maybe sooner!

It's gonna be a rough day. The kind that makes you wanna run off into the wilderness with a knife and a garbage bag.

Well good morning WS people! It is raining and about 60 degrees here today. US weather forecast is mostly light today, followed by mostly dark tonight. This forecast has been brought to you by Wildthang radio, 50,000 watts of continuous Bull Chat for your listening pleasure.

    WS live news highlight:

Kyrat has returned from his senior citizen camping trip,( the only known campground in the world with handicap fire pits ), and has a new lease on life. He is now running through the woods of Kentucky screaming shoot those white men and scalp them too because I need the hair

Rick is in the remodelling mode, and is totally remodelling his house. He wouldn't admit it but Mrs. Rick told him no more boots in the field untill it is done! Funny thing, Rick wanted to install a big brass pole and a stage and said something about utilizing the hong...........holy cow that is just plain scary

Crash had to stop making knives temporarily because his entire shop filled up with steel fillings and was fusing into a giant pile of rust. He hauled off the steel filings to a salvage yard and now has enough money to buy a new Crashcarta extruding machine!

1stemester is entering the Ididerod next year and will be the first person ever to use weener dogs to pull her sled. She has fabricated a special light weight sled from the hood of a 49 Dodge pickup and feels that 46 weener dogs can effectively pull it 45 miles per hour..............we will see! That is 1mph per weener dog, makes sense to me

Sourdough strained way too hard in the ole outhouse the other day and fell out of the outhouse He is now designing a new door with a safety air bag so this doesn't happen again!

Nessie is writing a new book called, "How to keep men on a wilderness forum in line" based her extensive experience, this will be interesting

Sarge is now raising genetically bred 3 legged chickens because the drumsticks are his favorite part of the chicken. With 3 legs, these awesome chickens can run 45 miles per hour. We ask him how the new breed of chickins taste, and he said I don't realay know, because we cant catch the fast little suckers. He is now contemplating using his shotgun to butcher a chicken based on Kyrats advice:scared

Hunter63 has invested all of his savings into a company that makes PVC pipe and end caps. He thinks it is a sound investment considering the looming gun ban, and is hoping to reap huge profits in the next 2 years. It wouldn't surprise me folks, there could be a huge profit to be made here!

A conglomereation of WS members are designing a canoe with an automatic valve in the bottom of the canoe so it can sink on demand............WTH:scared

So WS listeners, that's the news for now, and I hope you enjoyed it!

Excellent write-up WT! Don't know how I missed it yesterday.
Now that the cat's out of the bag on my book, I thought I'd share the cover: Attachment 8855

Ok I need to grumble a little as my DH and I had literally NO sleep. Due to his job we spend much of the week in a highrise rental in Chicago. Been forced to live here a total of 16 years - rest in wonderful WI. Thought this rental would make it easy for his walk to work (2 blocks), and allow us to remain a 1 car family for a few more years.
Here's why we are sleepless in Chicago.
Of course winds anywhere create noise - but we found out last night (our 1st winter at this location) that the resonance from a certain wind direction and speed creates a SIREN effect. All night long without let up except for seconds here or there, it was like being in the worst tornado siren situation in your life. DOG is a wreck. Interior rooms are only the bathrooms and THEY have fans connected to the outdoors so the siren was loud and clear in them. Yes, we both considered bedding down on the tile floors there.
Ok, I love winter but BOY do I hate this noise. TV could not drown it out! We tried everything . . . .
Only consolation is we will be out of here June 1, 2014 God willing.
But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15

Hahha. Once a guy entered the Iditarod with poodles. It did not end well. Now only northern breed dogs (aka) huskies, are allowed to enter the race.

Wow, I can't imagine having to live in a high rise in Chicago, poor you! If I were you I would pick up some foam earplugs just in case the wind howls again.
Hopefully the wind will die down before you guys go into sleep depravation!

But But, weener dogs are more powerful than poodles aren't they. I guess you would have to put little parkas on them to keep them from freezing though

You are right about the ear plugs- but it was 11 pm before we realized what was causing the noise - it became continuous then. Before then we thought it was the usual just stupid city noises which calm down around then. So yes, we will have to get them as the SIREN is still sounding today with crazy winds/cold.
And I agree, we couldn't believe that we would be this high up either. But it was the cheapest by $700 and included parking and locked in for 2 years so to save the $$ we took it figuring "new building, what could be bad" HAH now we know

Wouldnt the cost of rent be at least double or tripple what a car payment would be ?
