Moving to the area.

I'm looking towards, TX, NM, CO, AZ.

My requirements are:

Mountains or hill area.
Frontage river or stream, creak runs through.
Wood, or a least some freaking trees
Strong property and gun rights.

About 500,000$ land+ house, has to be around 20+ acres for that, land only around 380,000$.

South western, south central CO.
Northern NM,

Prob doesn't meet most of your requirements. You could try going to the specific location and just ask the real-estate agents, they'd love to sell you anything you want .

Colorado on the western part of the state $500k would buy a nice spread, a couple of things to be careful of when you get up in elevation the climate can get very harsh windy cold winter 10mo of the year. You probably want to stay away from the San Luis valley lots of cheap land for sale but it is cheap for a reason it is high alkaline desert cold nasty barren and people are the same. We do have winter so rural place you have to plow your driveway and deal with winter.
If I had $500k I could find paradise here.. for real. 6000ft elevation trees, water ahhhh..

I have camped and hiked in Nth NM it is nice some parts are pretty dry not many good creeks in many areas. I don't know much about Texas most people say water is an issue, many counties in Texas law enforcement is basically the main economy so beware.

Texas has no mountains, only small hills. In the hill country of Texas, water isn't that much an issue. Land is usually around $10-20K an acre. I have lived in Texas, and I like mountains, real mountains.

Texas economy in world terms
According to U.S. Department of Commerce estimates, Texas’s GDP (gross domestic product) was $1.14 trillion. And that ranks Texas as the world’s 14th largest economy in 2009. The Texas economy currently ranks 14th just behind Russia and ahead of Australia. Texas was 13th in 2008, I think were in 15th spot for 2012 cant remember.

I always viewed Texas as a pretty common sense place. People generally follow certain social rules in order to make getting along easier that were generally understood by everyone. Also, cheap land and a growing economy .

Texas is pretty friendly, Unless your a douch then its a diffrent story, good land isnt cheap around my area, the economy is great in texas.

I figured that as long as I don't bother other people (like my neighbors), I should be fine.

And yes, there are parts where the land is more expensive, parts that I'd like to avoid .

For the most part if your a decent person youll get along just fine here. When I say good land I mean workable, there is cheap land near me but the amount of rock and clay makes it crap for planting. that or the previous owner had it cleared of trees and its just a field of stumps.

Its not just texas it was a US wide Problem

IF your not breaking the law you wont get pulled over , Sometimes LEO's do pull people over for little to no real good reason, and a lot of times that hunch pays off and gets them a warrant stop, a POD, or a list of other infractions. There are signs and tells of what they look for when they stop a vehicle for little reason. Except for the troopers, most local agencies will give you a warning if your Respectful, and honest. unless its drug related then its ZERO tolerance.

I agree with welderguy. Texas is the best place to live. Everyone should realize that and move there. I have lived in Texas for many years. My wife grew up there. You can even buy Blue Bell there. And there is Rudy's BBQ. Land is cheap, especially when you compare it to other states. Don't even think about why the land is cheap, just move to Texas.

Whatever you do, don't come to Utah. Land is expensive, and the place is filled with crazy people. Plus, there isn't any Blue Bell, and I have to order Rudy's BBQ sauce online. There are also no fire ants, or killer bees, or coral snakes, or even humidity. Who would want that? Mountains are overrated anyways. You are either walking up them, or down them, and you have to deal with high altitude stuff. Utah also has this thing called BLM and National Forests. You don't want to know what those are. Don't worry, Texas doesn't have any of that doo-doo. So...move to Texas, not Utah.

All very good reasons, Very nice of you to help out there Buddy. Each state has there own set of Good and bad points, Whats most important is where your happy at. if thats in 130 degrees or 65 below zero then thats were you should be. Dont worry about people theres good and bad all over the place.
