So let me get this straight...... the police buy the guns, no questions asked and then what? Do they check to see if they are stolen? used in a crime? If not, then aren't the police aiding and abetting criminals???

First off I don't agree with "buy back" programs but yes they are run through NCIC, the ATF, and the NIBIN system to check for possible use in crimes. They are then destroyed or forfieted to the agency for department use such as being issued to Reserve units or training for example. They could also be traded in by the department to gun manufacturers such as Sig Sauer or Glock for a discount on new issued weapons.

This is an unusual coincidence,my Grandfather traded groceries for an Oxford Arms 20 gauge SxS,during the Great Depression and I still have it,the forearm wood is split and the end of the barrels are tissue thin,sign of the times?

They have 211 weapons that probably would never ever have been used in a crime because they were turned in by law abiding (if not a tad naive) citizens. I'd be willing to bet a jelly donut that not one criminal turned in a single weapon.
