    Default surviving society

what happened to integrity of the law? on the news yesterday a police officer beat the brains out of someone over a minor traffic infraction. sworn to serve and protect,it seems that has been abandoned. now we fear broken heads and shoulders. with no authority to polce the authoritys none of have a chance. even Oceola co. has cops catering to the criminal, helping them escape? what can we do to protect ourselves from criminal cops and survive it?????

I would not call the actions of one, a breakdown where there is a concern about surviving society. What was the traffic stop for? What did the person that was injured do prior to the "beating". Yes there are some LEO's that get out of hand, but for the most part I'm pretty danged impressed with all the BS they take and still remain calm.

Yeah, I've seen that one before. You may want to find the version that has the bleeps in it. That language is a wee bit harsh for the youngins.

I don't think that the "threat" from a rogue cop is any more than it ever has been. What makes it seem worse is the availability of video (phones, etc). There are "bad eggs" in any profession. You can and do run into them at any time. I can state for a fact that there are more "ethics police" , policing the police (thats alot of police in one sentence ) now than at anytime in our history. Personaly I think there are alot more things to worry about than the slight possibility of meeting a "rogue cop".

There are an awful lot of hard working, dedicated LEO in this country. According to the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) published each year by the Department of Justice, there are just over 1 million law enforcement personnel serving over 286 million folks in this country. They work in over 14 thousand different agencies (2008 numbers). I would venture a guess that the overwhelming majority of those employees are good, honest folks just trying to make a living. But if even 1% have a bad day that equates to 10,000 and a few of them are bound to wind up on the news. To equate a single episode to the condemnation of all seems a bit harsh to me.

I think police are more professional than they have ever been just they are getting caught more because of all the video cameras around today. It's getting hard for truck drivers to take a leak these days without somebody calling in on you telling your boss he has it on video.

I guess if they're not freakin out and beating brains in more than any other professional would no big deal.

I wonder if cops freak out more than someone in any other profession would, say a baker or a doctor.??

I would venture a guess that if any of the professions you listed had to endure some of the carp that LEO's do - there would be a whole lotta freakin out going on.

Let's hope they don't. It's bad enough trying to keep tabs on psycho cops, let alone breadmakers.

I'm not too worried about the local authorities around here for any rogue attitudes. But I know that there are too many perverted ones. Who I believe should be holed up for a while because of Sexual Harassment (while on the job).

And to think, I used to dream about being sexually harassed on the job. One more of life's goals down the drain.

There were no Debra Lafave's when I was in school. There were only Mrs. Redferns...

Another one they used to do here (if they still don't) is have bets on who could bring in the most "insert offense." One of my friends, of age, was arrested for "DUI" when she blew a 0.02 while the legal limit is 0.08. The arresting officer wouldn't not let her get her insulin from the car (she's a diabetic that requires the shots), rolled the windows down on a cold night, and locked her up. When she got to make her phone call, her mom came down and raised h3ll. The charge was dropped and nothing went onto her record.

I'm all for Law Enforcement, but not for abuse of power.

When I think about "surviving society" I think about the criminals, punks and morons.
I don't worry too much about LE because I am a law abiding citizen. Are there rogue LE elements? Yes, but not nearly as many as just plain ol' civilian dickweeds.
If it weren't for the human criminality in general, any SHTF wouldn't be as much of a concern to me.

most cops are doing thier jobs i agree, prehaps a more vigorous intimidation response observation of all officers could weed out the "rouge" abusers. the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty, disputing an officers determination to take action intimidates some of them and they react.
