I'm proud of it. I'm proud of the history it symbolizes. I'm proud of the people it represents. I'm proud of the nation it flies over. I'm proud of the principles and freedom it exemplifies. And I'm proud to display it.

I may be outspoken in my criticism of our government officials when I feel they are abandoning or ignoring the Constitutional principles under which we were founded, but make no mistake about it; I firmly believe that we still have the greatest morals and ideals and decency of any nation ever established on this earth, and we have paid whatever price was necessary to prove the meaning of what we stand for whenever events have put us to the test.

If anyone disagrees, so be it. You can apologize for or criticize our history and our role in world events any way you see fit. Our freedoms give you that right. As for me, I'll be flying the flag.

Do you want to know why? I'll let our flag speak for itself. Pay attention, okay?

Agreed. Everyone says that they want to move to Canada and all that, and they can go ahead. When it comes down to it, we are privaleged to only have a government to complain about. That said, we're lucky to even HAVE a government!

it's a symbolic anouncement of the united states as a ship in distress.

    why are you confused?

I did not know that was a symbol of a ship in distress, is that universal for any country's ship or just a U.S. vessel

    Excellent post Ken.

To me these words from the site you post say it all:

I bow to no one! One soveriegn nation should never bow to another (us to "them" nor "them"to use)
I am recognized all over the world. It it means a better way of life , a dream to so many people,It is recognized almost as well as the Cocoa Cola symbol.
I am worshipped I am saluted. THere is a large portion of our citizenry that "gets it". And the most rabid "worshipers" seem to be those that have embraced our way of life voluntarily as immigrants.
I am loved I am revered. I am an unabashed lover of this country and get teary eyed when I hear the National Athem .
I am respected and I am feared. Respected for what we do for others, and feared by those who don't understand, or prey on the weak.

I guess that makes me a Patriot

it works for any country, it's an old [essentially international] maritime distress signal.

I am fully aware of what its meaning is. I was just ensuring that I was interpreting your meaning correctly.

I do not agree with you conclusion, but do not see any need to discuss it.

That if I was reading your post correctly, you are saying "we" are under duress.
If I am getting the wrong conclusion, then I extend my apologies

yes, i believe we are in distress. if you don't agree, i don't expect you to. as a country, we are exactly as strong as our views, in a manner of speaking

The flag? Yeah, it belongs to me. If you don't like what it represents then I suggest you find a country better suited to your views. Now move along.
