This is really an interesting subject, and even asked DW what she would grab.
For me beer, smokes, coffee, then salt, pepper, sugar, aspirin.
I'm was using the what can't I come up with some other way scenario.
She is more into TP, canned goods, cooking oil, soap, rice, beans, flour.
We have or BOB food/cooking crates made up, use mostly to restock "The Place" with all the stuff we don't leave over the winter.
Basic crate/tote: cooking oil, soap, salt/pepper, paper towels, paper plates/bowls cups, plastic spoons forks, alum foil, zip lock bags, can opener, matches, candles
Food crate/tote: coffee, tea, dry drink mix, canned goods, dried potatoes/gravy, soup mixes, pancake mix, pasta, ketchup, margarine, mustard, salad dressing. This crate gets rotated, but stays stocked.
These are kinda left over from the camper days, had a pop-up, and later a 16' Shasta, we parked as the first "Place", didn't leave much in over winter.
Lots of the dry goods are already at "The Place", but we might not be heading there, so basic stuff is included in the basic crate.

For me it would be TP, pasta, rice beans, cooking oil, canned meats,
We seem to do pretty good at rotating those things and loosing track.

Canned goods, more baking supplies, comfort foods, OTC medications, TP, batteries, more first aid supplies, Bisquick.
I cant afford to stock up, Guess I'll just go fishin
I am only 1/4 mile from Colorado River![]()
5 minutes ?
i'd load up on cans of tuna and oatmeal packets
definitely looking at quantity instead of quality/variety in 5 minutes time

Think not only of tomorrow but also of the day after tomorrow...... I would go for the garden department and get more seeds.......seeds in the future will be like what gold is today.
Why? You keep making these statements but you don't explain yourself. Do you think all the plants are going to die? If so, why?

I'm begining to believe that somebody may have an over active imagination.
5 min. anywhere? Costco-bulk vitamins, oil, and hit their emergency food section.
Burning all the excess seeds.

I guess for me it would depend on how bad the SHTF and what I needed at the moment. It would also depend on whether or not I had to buy it.
If the S really HTF, pure chaos, and no one else had done it yet I'd be off to the pharmacy. Otherwise it'd be whatever OTC stuff I might need, batteries, smokes, liquor, canned goods and carbs. Oleo, EVOO, flour, corn meal, rice, beans. stuff that I could not easily procure from the wild and that would last. Stuff that I could trade if needed. I wouldn't need the booze, most scrips and smokes for myself, but they'd be good items for trade.
When the shtf here with the poweroutage, water, batteries, canned ready to eat food, and gen's, power inverters were what was short. Everything else was pretty much left on the shelf.
Of course you couldn't even get into the store for the first half a day or so cuz there was no power. I went in at 2 in the morning and it was like the first day of a sale, crowded and hectic! They had already been open for 4 hours or so.
Coffee, chocolate, cheese, butter, spices, powdered coco, potato chips, potatoes, fresh vegies. That is what I can think of off the top of my head. Probably also hit the household isle and get some paper products and cleaning supplies. Good barter stuff later on.

LOL Kent........done.
Rick? the reason for what I wrote is that I am keeping up with the stories about Monsanto seeds and if that's all that we will have in the future then there not only will there be a shortage of real seeds but your kids, and everyone else, will get sick from those GM seeds..........so that there will be plenty of seeds but do you really want to eat what comes from them?......control the food and you will control the people.
NOTE: In India they are trying to make it against the law to talk about the Monsanto seeds.
Hell yeah. We've been eating it all our lives. You better hope GM seeds continue to be produced or we will all starve to death. You can not feed the world with heirloom plants. That's the reason mankind started manipulating plants hundreds of years ago.Originally Posted by Ponce

I know that goof ball was banned but he's no doubt lurking now. It just amazes me that folks only read one side of the debate and then champion that position. I've yet to meet the first person that is against GM seeds that has a viable solution to feeding the world's horde. If I ever run into that person they might convince me that GM is wrong. Until then...
Oh, yeah. It actually southeast of Texas 240 miles apparently. Castro loves the place.
