people don't always read signatures. i'm guilty of it myself at times; just assuming there's something witty written, i don't take it any further.

Its fine with me, that being said I take no responsibility for it. It Crash runs off with the money to Argentina to wine and dine his mistress, well, what can I do? Nothing, that is what.

Also yes, I would recommend paypal, you can accept money by mail too, but paypal would be easier for people who use it. Also, you can sell items on ebay and have the money go to your paypal account, which you could then donate directly from your paypal account to Crash's. So, you can turn the junk around your house into donations. When members of another forum of mine did this (for a long time member who had their computer die and they couldn't afford a new one so they couldn't participate in the forum anymore) we used paypal and bought her a new Dell.

As for which store, Crash could buy the certificate to any store, he could use a site like giftcertificates.com, or get them for Amazon.com. Amazon.com doesn't just sell books, they've got tools, home improvement stuff, outdoor stuff, and even groceries, sold by the case, with free shipping and no tax. It is pretty economical.

Chris?!? Say it ain't so...an...an...another f-f-forum of...yours???? I'm crushed. It's like finding out one of your parents is having an affair.

Now, back to business, did I miss it or how do we establish the panel?
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

OK!! Likewise I have also been in contact with Chris myself. I have been given permission to do something to get this ball rolling. I will reveal more tomorrow, I have some things to do Before I can say any more. But I think everyone will want to see what it is. I will reveal it in a brand new thread, which I will start. Stay tuned for more to follow.

Please don't ask, I won't say until I have all my Ducks in a row. Although I think you will like this little duckie.

I'm bnot sure how this would work out. It would be great if it works out as planned.

I have seen some very serious misuse of forums charity. One guy who if I remember correctly had a mother so sick that she was dying around Christmas and he was near crippled by an injury and the bills were just piling up. Lots of people sent him money.

Then a year later same afflictions and dying mother. People started rereading this guys threads and he was a bullshot artist of epic proportions. Unfortunately was also a pretty knowledgeable person on the topic of the boards and a moderator. So, we had to give boot to a person who was very knowledgeable of the topic discussed and someone who would have garnered much reputation had we had a system in place back then.

Anyway, I hope it works as intended and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to helping in terms of how Chris helped the member with the computer problem. I have done the same several times at other boards. Also, as a thank you to those members who really help those of us with less knowledge and experience.

Sourdough (or Crash), where is this right now? I have read it through a few times now and still havnt got it all figured out. I understand that Crash is going to hold the money but there was also mention in earlier posts that it would be gift cards and not cash. Also, who will decide where and how much is sent? There was mention of a group of members to direct this..I would like to nominate Nell (if she is willing) to be part of that group.

I'm just the clearing house for the $$$. Sourdough will need to let us know how he wants the "panel" to be set up. While that is happening I am going to try and contact the Governor of South Carolina to see if he has any tips on that

If the SC governor cant help you, you can try to get ahold of Gov. Spitzer. Back tothe subject though..I think this is a great idea and will contribute when we get some directions from Sourdough.

OK, I feel strongly the best way to have this end poorly is if the gifts are very large, sooner or later we will get snookered. My vision is lots of small gifts to brighten a members day, not solve their problem. We don't want to get into choosing who is most deserving, or most needing.

The perfect example is Gray wolf getting chewed on by an alligator, or Ken's exit from the hospital, or Hoosierarcher having some tough luck, Nell when her home burned. My vision is not to solve a members problem, but to say "We love you, You matter to us".

Crash has agreed to be the keeper of the money only, and release it as directed buy the team of three members. So by default I will be the team leader for a short while. I am looking for two other members to assist with decisions. With-in the team of three, all votes are equal, and any two in agreement rule.

This is where we will start......it will evolve with a life, and a destiny of it own.

I think you are right to keep the gifts small. On top of making it harder to be scammed, it could mean more people get their spirits lifted. I hope you get the two others you need to get this up and running!

Breaking News: We have a panel (team) in place. "YOUR" decision making panel is: Nell67, Pal334, and Sourdough. There will be an alternate named soon.
