Other than hunting season they tend to be a pain in the arse because of the laws.
For me, it sounds like it's the other way around. Just sayin.

I have no fear of my guns being taken by the government.

If I get into trouble with the law I will justifiably and possibly only temporarily lose possession of my guns.

Don't let facts get in the way of your opinions.
Will you stop that kind of talk? No wonder they all think we're a bunch of commies up here...yeesh!
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

I spoke about this in my very first post. All our guns have to be registered. We are allowed only 4 guns unless you are registered as a bona fide hunter,or collector.Guns for self defence must be reregistered every 5 years, hunting rifles every 10 years. We are not allowed any automatic weapons.200 rounds per calibre at one time in your posession.Locked in a gunsafe, loose all your firearm if found guilty of a violent crime...... the list goes on.Lots of people didnt want to register their firearms(Lots of older people)and surrendered them to the police. Many of these guns found their way to the streets.
A policeman was killed in the week because he gave a warning and the criminal shot him.
Law abiding people are afraid to shoot because they can loose everything.People are killed every day for cellphones and laptops. We live in a dangerous country.
Not to say it is only the fault of our firearm laws, but we are slowly being disarmed and left unable to defend ourselves or to afraid of the consequinces if we do.I envy you for owning lots of guns of different calibres.Dont let someone take that away from you.

We don’t get any notice of expiry. If you forget to renew your free game for confiscation. Hand guns are a new level altogether. I don’t own one ........I decided to keep my first born instead. Sounds to me like they made the law from the same book.

there are a few points to consider:
the Canadian and SA gun laws are based on the old British laws, where only the Kings' men where allowed to own arms (be it a sword, long bow, chest armor....).
so there is already a culture of opression.

secondly the socialist fear of armed citizen.

SA has the worst bunch of leftwing criminals as politicians,
Canada has a large sozialist bueraucracy, often a leftwing government with above fears.
since most Canadian voters live in big cities, it is a sure vote-getter to implement stronger gun laws.

as for the us: we do need some form of federal control to curb crime.

I couldn't agree more. I suggest we start by utilizing the laws we have followed closely by abandoning early release programs for those that utilize a gun in the commission of a crime.

If your inference is we need additional federal laws to combat crime then by all means, let's do that. I've committed so many crimes with my legal and tracked weapons. The feds will probably show up any day now to arrest me.

And, after reviewing crime statistics for Chicago and Washington, D.C. I can understand how more stringent laws would drive down crime across the country. It's worked so well in those two locals.

Well I'm not in Canada, but I get a scary feeling every time I go to purchase a firearm. Seems the wait gets longer each time. Now, I'm going to buy a .22 and actually am worried that this might be the time they say request denied.

Sorry to tell ya, Brother but I care plenty. Don't you wonder why your Gov is so interested in what you own through forced registry. If you don't, YOU SHOULD! I am suspicious of anyone that wants to get into "MY business" especially the Government. MY GUNS ARE MY BUSINESS,... AND MINE ALONE!! Do yourself a favor...with your right hand reach up and grab your head (which contains the brain).... with your left hand reach down and grab your scrotum (which contains..oh nevermind). Now, with both hands so placed remember God gave you both for a reason. Repeat as often as necessary. Go get em Uncle Ted! We need more like you. Best.

I think stony and cranky are either twins seperated at birth,or siamese twins that weren't.......just depends on which one is facing the computer when the hands start typing........

Why should the laws in another country concern you so much? So far the people from that country have told you it doesn't bother them and they own guns, but NO! that isn't good enough. You need to insult the people of this country like we don't have a brain.

    Puh-lease!

I think it was more a case of insulting someone who says that they don't care about something, that we care a great deal about.

And for the record, I feel bad for the people in your country, that have brains, because I think they are controlled by liberals, that really don't impress me with theirs. I am also concerned that my country is going down that same path. It may happen, but it won't be because we didn't throw a fit. I for one, will not go quietly into that dark night.

I don't care what goes on in your country. He asked "who cares" refering to gun registration. I care about that happening here. Canada is not at the top of my "things to ponder" list. If you took insult from my post, I want you to realize that was not intended. I was refering to an individual, not the populas as a whole. For the record I have family in Canada and can tell you that a head buried in the sand is a terrible sight. My in laws from Canada have told me many times that Canadian's as a whole in their experience are very jealous of Americans because of our freedoms here (not to mention better beer and four seasons). That is from the horse's mouth, not an assumption. You can keep your gun registration and we'll keep yall a little jealous . Next time you're in New Orleans may I recommend a stop at "The Crescent City Brew House". You like my in laws won't want to leave either. First round's on me. Take care my frozen amigo.
P.S. I also appologies for suggesting that God gave Canadian's a scrotum and contents. Easy mistake. Take it easy...just joking.

So if you shoot the first thief the other thief (the government) will take everything you have, instead of just a few things?

Loose a few things and possibly your life, or shoot and keep your life but possibly lose everything you have worked for in your life...
