    Default Howdy from the Rockies

I am a little nervous in new groups but have posted a lot in the survivalistboards. Would be nice to find a good wilderness forum which this one looks like possibly the best.

If I am a little nervous on the net, think how I am in "real" life and I have been accused of being a hermit in the mountains, in the past.

I was born in Greeley, Colorado 51 years ago. Have worked quite a few jobs so have various experience. Mainly help neighbors with their cabins, cleaning up, cutting down dead trees, some of the millions of dead pine trees in the Rocky Mountains and splitting a Lot of firewood. Also odd jobs, anything but a "real" society approved job for the past few years. Which I can get away with since I am not married and no kids.

I bought a few acres of mountain land in 1987 in southern Wyoming, paid it off in 1990 and have been building a survival retreat ever since.

I have some sheds, an underground cabin - bunker - two springs, many trees etc. Hope I can move to my mountain retreat permanently someday but since 1999 I have spent every year from June to Nov. up there and the rest of the time in Greeley, Colorado.

I have some pic threads which not sure if I should post links to those. But here is a pic site that shows a little of what I have done on my remote retreat, it is not fancy but most would think it quite inexpensive - around $12,000 to build all of it, including the price of land. Pics tell more than words so these pics tell quite a bit > http://mtnmanmike.angelfire.com/mtnm...ivate-road?i=0

Thanks for the quick welcomes. This possibly is a good and busy group unlike some very slow groups and another group which I have spent too much time in lately, which is too busy with many nonsense posts.

My picture link is in my profile and not sure why it does not work for you. Maybe if people keep trying? Here it is again.

I can also post pics in this group although I just have slow dial up and it takes a lot of time. I hope to post much more in this good wilderness forum.

Hope it is ok to post the following link, from another group, which many I believe, have been able to see the pics > http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=42447

Thanks Rick. Maybe someone will know why some cannot see some sites, maybe pop-up blockers?? It is the only pic website I have that tells much. I have lost a couple other websites for whatever reasons over the past 10 years. Some say my mtn place is crude but it works for me and I spend little money for I have little to spend.

I will probably post some pics in this wilderness group but maybe not til next year. Which is coming up fast. This past year went extremely fast, especially in the warm months when I am in the mountains and wilderness from June to Nov.

    MtnManMike.

It sounds like you are living my dream. I really look forward to reading your contributions. I would say most of us are tinkerers and doers and we love experimenting and learning, and I think we (I) could learn a lot from you.

Welcome home. Won't you set a spell? A nice cuppa sassafras tea and warm yer feet by the fire.

Crude is how modernists view the natural world. If it works, it works. I like it for what thats worth.
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller

Thanks for the good replies. A lot I could respond to but I better go into the wilderness of this forum and see what I can contribute and Maybe even learn. I have been interested in outdoors living and survival since 1982 so I hope I know a few things. I have had a few adventures over the past 30 or so years which I hope to share and even read some adventures here.
