What are you drinking? Eyeballs! Good Lord, man. Starvation, please. I'll have the starvation with a side of growling stomach.

lol It has several meanings, roughly transelated it means Im Astonished lol

Anyway, back to normality, people with think we are going nuts

haggis is very good for you Rick, Less fat than Pemmican (per pound) and more tastey, im sending you a can of it one day

I have a "unique" reci[ie to share with you

    Boiled Brains in Blood

    Ingredients 1xBrain (Preferably large)
Enough blood to go up to half the height of the brain
    water

Okay put the brain in a pot and fill with water untill it is covered and bring to a good boil for about 1/2 an hour to an hour untill cooked (Cut it in half and if there are any raw bits in the center cook longer)

In another pot put about 1/2 a pint to a pint of blood in a pot and agen boil untill it starts to reduce continue another 15 minuites

Strain the water from the brain and discard (OR use agen to add flavour to another dish) and put in the blood and take it off the flames and on to coals to keep it at a good temp, Then get a bowl and take the brain the cut it into about quarters and serve with the blood, You dont have to add all the liquid but you can

    Serve Hot. Mmmmmm

This is one of those "fun" recipies and not a actual survival one, f you can eat this then you can eat pritty much anything

Ive tryed it once after talking to my dad who made it and threw up half of it but i ate the other half and it tastes beter the more you eat it

    No OXO cubes allowed

I was thinking confused or dismayed but I knew that wasn't right. So it had to be astonished. Anywho....you're right, they'll think us mad.

I don't do pemmican, either. I don't eat animal fat. Something about chunks of cholesterol floating through your veins. I don't do brains, either especially with mad cow disease. But I do appreciate the offer. Gads, lad. You must have the stomach of a Challenger Tank.

I didn't have you cheerin' me on, Sarge.

Tony - I actually don't have a survival food. I like to carry some sort of quick rice (Uncle Bens) and/or Ramen noodles with me. I can build just about anything from that, especially in the summer. A few wild greens make a salad add a nice fish and it's dinner time. About the only survival food I carry are chicken bullion cubes.

I carry my protein with me in the winter. That's usually one of the foil chicken breasts from Bumble Bee.

Oh, GORP. I forgot that. I do carry GORP.

At least better than super glue

I think a few of these would be an excellent addition to a hunter's (anybody who is around weapons) first aid kit. Cabellas has some for sale, around 20-40 US dollars depending on the size of the sponge. Very good idea!
Doc, have you heard of the newer granular hemostatic agent called CELOX, that's what I carry in my survival pack. Here's a link that explains why this is better than QuickClot, including "no training necessary, safer for both the victim and the caregiver without generating heat and can be used for bleeding injuries in extreme low temperatures and will even clot Heparinized blood.".

Ive never tryed GORP altho it looks very well suited to the job. Most of the food i carry is just small tins bought from the closest shop to my house and they do fine, i dont beleve in expensive or overrated survival foods

I make my own. Mixed nuts, raisins, dried cherries, dried figs. In the winter I add some chocolate morsels for the calories.

I'm just not in to carting 60 pounds around in the woods. I'm getting too old for that. I have a day pack and that's enough for me for a few days. If I'm out longer then I go with my ALICE.

Back on thread. Gray Wolf, do you carry some type of clotting agent when you're out or was it an educational question?

The CELOX Hemostatic Agent comes in 2 sizes:

    CELOX 15 gr. $14.95
    CELOX 35 gr. $23.95

Can be used one handed if necessary, that's very important to me, or to anyone who's by themselves.

Yes, I posted that above and in other threads, including the one on Survival Kits.
I found out about CELOX, 'cause I trek by myself, and needed something I could use if I got badly hurt.

Okay. I'm with you. I didn't know where you were going with it. I suppose that would be a good application and one-handed sure makes sense. I just try to weigh the "what if's" with how much stuff I have to carry. In the end, it's about comfort level I guess.

Rick, if you took a regular envelope with nothing in it, and folded it in half, that's how big the pack of CELOX is, and the envelope probably weighs more.

Check out the link for much more info.
