    Default What would you miss?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this? But.........

In a SHTF/TEOTWAKI scenerio. The store shelves are empty, Trucks aren't running, Most conviences are gone or greatly reduced. Electricity is gone except for those with generators. No phone service, You get the idea.

When this happens what would you miss the most?

For me MOST things I wouldn't miss a lot. I try to live as simply as I can that way If I don't have it I won't miss it for long. Last winters Ice storms helped show me that. We were out of power, landline phone, cable, etc. for about a week. BUT I had generators so we did have lights, refrigerator, and such. Many of my neighbors didn't, I was just fine. So anyway back to the point.

What I would miss most is communication with via the internet with all the friends I have made here, and on a couple other sites I visit. I have come to view Most of you as an almost "second family" and as with my "real" family I'll miss the people here. Other than that...... Ice cold beer and pizza.
If by what I have learned over the years, allow me to help one person to start to prepare. If all the mistakes I have made, let me give one person the wisdom that allows them to save their life or the life of a loved one in an emergency. Then I will truly know that all the work I have done will have been worth every minute.

I agree on the internet. I'm a bit of a net junkie but only because I use it for research. It's handy as heck for that. The rest of life's stuff? Not so much.

ive been without the internet here and there.
at first i missed it, but after a short while i didnt miss it much at all.

i guess id miss heat, electricty, water, and of course, great food.

questions like this really get me thinking about just how easy i have it.
it scares me to a degree and also helps keep me motivated.

Possibly the internet, is such a great tool. But other than that, probably just Pipe tobacco, always has been a stress reliever .

(let me save non smokers the time, I know the arguements against smoking, is my choice)

I'd agree on the internet, I'd miss this place, I like you all, and you go to some way to keep me sane when the book-keeping gets me down!
Other than that, not a lot, but I would find it hard, doing without chocolate in the short-term, with soft toilet paper and sugar(for preserving purposes) in the long -term. Most other things I would hope I could find a way round.

Internet, refrigeration and an endless supply of hot water. Those are the only things I would miss and I would miss two of them dearly.

    Internet and 7-11 coffee.

(If I were still a smoker, I would have said ciggs....but I've been 5 months without, so I guess I can live without them.) (I do miss them, though!)

7-11 COFFEE ?? Bet your Yankee pal will say Starbucks. I get mine at the BP station. I am pretty well fixed for us, internet I use mainly for paying bills & shopping, following a few stocks. I stopped(smoking) once for 8 mo. and started again, been over 20yrs now without a cig or chew and I feel for you. Don't think we would miss anything for awhile.

I just went through a mini-excercise like this of sorts. We have these local Chow Mein noodles that are a staple in this area. EVERY Chinese restaurant within 20 miles uses them and only them. Yoy can also buy them to prepare at home. I was down to my last box, and THEN.......!!!!!

I would have to say, coffee/smokes.

I find that the internet is fun, but after a day or so with out it, I really don't miss it much.
Just having spent 7-8 days with out (couple of hunting trips), I find all the forwarded e-mails a real pain to deal with.
