Visit the pawn shops! Not long ago my mower was stolen and I recovered it a repair shop. I never stopped looking it had been close to 2 months! I get to go watch him get released in court a second time on the 12th. Good Luck!
Keep in mind the problem may be extremely complicated, though the "Fix" is often simple...

You bet I'll be checking, As for the perps release ( everyone hide your eye's I'm gonna get political) it doesn't surprize me in the liberalistic justice system today the scumbag who stole your mower and the one who took our stuff has more rights than we do!

And thanks for the well wishes

In a nut shell. If you can't prove he stole it with pictures or witnesses of him actually committing the crime then he didn't do it, even when caught redhanded with it. He only received stolen property. First I recovered the mower with a guys name now hanging from the key. So I call the police and they allow me to recover my now not running mower. Months later an arrest is finally made and it is a different guy. Seems the first guy rolled on the second and now he has noone to roll on. But that is not enough proof to charge him with theft only receiving stolen goods. I did get to look him in the eye after he spent a weekend in jail. I will be back on the 12th. The other thing is the charge is receiving stolen goods under 1000$ and is a misdimeanor. It doesn't matter my new mower cost 2500$.

That sucks OldSoldier. I detest thieves. I'm glad Mrs. OldSoldier is OK and I hope you get your stuff back. Not nice to think some a$$hole like that is running around out there with your 9 mil.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

I do know what you mean. LEO friends said that the odds of catching the theif(s) are pretty slim.BUT if caught the firearm alone will guarentee a felony charge. Plus the value of stolen stuff is well over $1000.oo So thats another felony. If it's over $2000.oo a stiffer felony.

Hey crash didn't you say the knife you made was a custom one of a kind knife with a $1,000.00 value??

We can put a price tag on it, but I don't want to make somebody choke on their donut while laughing.

I hope I don't insult your fine work here if I do I'm sorry. I told the cops that It WAS a custom knife and the probible replacement value was $ 450.00 The cop put down $500.00 on the report.

I told him the replacement value in $$$ isn't the point it's the sentimental value and told him how I got it. He agreed and said he knows what I mean.

Good point, I have to admit I even hate to see the waste of a good Danish (the people, not the pastry) That one kind of works both ways.

I wish Indiana insurance covers loss due to theft with the EXCEPTION of:

Firearms, and any other sporting goods with the exception of fishing, camping, hunting gear ( except firearms) and any other "outdoor" equipment, Tools with a value over $ 200.00, Electronics Over $5,000.00 i.e. stereo equipment installed or portable, there were a couple other things I can't remember at the moment. Only covered if special "ryder" added at extra cost!!!!
    But basically coverage I have
    Handgun.................................$0
    Knife......................................$0
    first aid gear.............................$0
    CD's.......................................$250.00
    other items..............................$400.oo
    Insurane deductable...................$750.00

True storie, I swear this is true!
Back in the early eighty's i left a department store and as i approached my 1974 dodge charger i watched as a man was using a "jimmie" trying to break into it. I got a hold of myself and and calmly asked him if he had locked himself out of "his" car and did he need any help. he somewhat frantically said no im good, ill get it. I then stated that if has a problem getting into "his" car i could help as i have the key in my pocket. We locked eyes and then he ran like heck. I thought it was so funny i didn't bother to call the police.

I hate to hear that. It burns me up and just knowing some dope head will sell everything for a handful of pills. We have all the alarms, bells & whistles here but if we go on the deck the door is locked behind us. We both, when I lived in the DC suburbs learned to always keep the doors, vehicles and everything locked or out of sight. I worked odd hours and I was having a cold one about 3am looked down the street and saw someone checking fronts of houses and when he got to my solid fence he got a 12ga under the chin and was told if he got off the sidewalk I would blow him away. I was the "gun crazy Redneck" in the neighborhood. Next week every car on the street was spray painted except mine, never had any more trouble. If it's possible I hate vandals worse than thieves.
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old
to fight... he'll just kill you.
