    Wolves,

I think (Stoney) meant the Utube video..the one (Ken) posted. I do not believe the video has any basis except Muslim propoganda. Take a second look at this post.

Keep in mind the problem may be extremely complicated, though the "Fix" is often simple...

Perhaps you are right. I did a quick "Google" and it seems the general information in the video is accurate. However the presentaion does slant it. I don't agree with what Stoney said, however I do now see how he got to his conclusion. Thanks for the clarity Cowboy

Stony is always yackin' about how the media can't be trusted and the government is at fault. He does these posts periodically. He hates fox and the "crooks on the hill". Oh, yeah, and how complacent we are. As well as those folks that "control the monetary system". His rhetoric sounds a lot like today's terrorists......hmmmmm.

Not directed at Stony but to anyone.

As I said, if you live here and you don't like the country, move. If you don't live in the U.S. then shut your pie hole about MY country. If you used to live here and moved then, guess what? It's not your country anymore so butt out!

Ok I stayed out of this as long as I could. However this much of Stony's statement is True. While I was in the 82nd we went on a "training mission" in another country. All the major news agencies were there. We were ordered to NOT reveal the true intent of our mission. I'm sorry but I can't and won"t go into any more detail than that. The news agencies can only report the facts as they know them, if the gov't. chooses to mislead them then that can't be helped.
Refering to what Crash said- If you "read between the lines" he is saying the same thing as I am. That not everything told to the news agencies is FACT. Sometimes the exact opposite is true. Sometimes it is to avoid panic. sometimes it is because the Gov't. has become so accustomed to "lying" that they just can't help themselves.
If this offends anyone then I'm sorry, But it was happening before any of us were born and will still be happening long after our Gr.gr.gr.gr. grandchildren are buried.
In the instance I gave it wasn't to protect anyone or anything or to avoid panic. It is my belief that it was for the other reason I gave. Does this mean that I love this country any less? No! Does this mean I would rather live someplace else? No! Does this mean I have even one tiny Anti-American sentiment? No! If you believe any of those apply to me then we need to have a SERIOUS talk. For the Record--- We live in the Greatest Nation in the Free World, and if you think otherwise then I'm all with the others - Pack your bags, Get out, and shut up, 'cause you've done all you can. You GAVE UP. Something they told us in Airborne School- "Winners NEVER quit, and Quitters NEVER win." Survival is all about never quitting, whether it's wilderness, urban, Or just Day-to-Day.Guess what? YOU QUIT so YOU LOSE!!!

Military reporting is one thing. The military had a tight fisted control on media reporting until Viet Nam. It's much harder for them to control today. Especially when the media is on site even before the military. Still, they do a pretty good job of stifling what they want.

General distrust of the media at large is something else entirely.

I don't rant, too often. And you might have missed the "Have a nice day" just below the flag.

    When I said
Stony - the world was much closer to a world wide war a few times during the cold war than you will ever know.
several instances came to mind, but one in particular. I know many of you know this already, but doubt that Stony did - hence (I like that word) my statement. I was thinking about the "Cuban Missile Crisis". Without going into all of the history and blah, blah about it - let me just say that we were very close to a nuclear war. The guys in submarines that were stationed on the boomers at the time got white knuckled retelling the stories of what happened at the time. There have been other instances where single events may have triggered war or just more strained relations. I was in no way inferring that a media blackout or misinformation campaign was to blame. That is sometimes needed to accomplish goals. You may disagree, or agree, but it can be effective.

Oh I agree . When it is warranted. The instance i am refering to in my post EVERYONE either knew or guessed what the real intention of the mission was In my example. The lie just made us (IMO) as a nation look silly and stupid. No one was fooled by this bit of "misinformation". So why do it? many times the same purpose can be achieved with-" if you do this,we'll do that" , so why lie? it only happened once in my career, but it happened.
