    Default RASPBERRIES! Happy, Happy, Happy!

Surprise!!! We knew we had a few bushes here and there, but we did a bit of exploring in the "thicker" parts of the backyard this past weekend. What did we find???

RASPBERRIES! TONS OF RASPBERRES!!!! Happy, Happy, Happy!

Gotta' have at least 2,500 square feet covered with raspberry bushes! Probably more. Time to get me some canning jars.

I love raspberries! If you don't keep them cut back you'll soon have a whole lot more than 2,500 square feet.

I'll stop 'em at 20,000 square feet. Be nice to me. I may send you a jar of preserves. Q.C. and all.

I was actually thinking gloved, but then again........

Man, you were FAST to pick up on that one, Crash. I must admit, I'm impressed. And, like Coot, I don't get impressed easily.

BTW, our friend visited us sometime around the 8th., if my memory serves me right. NOT the gloved one.

Already made rasberry pie filling and jam from my raspberries. I've just cut the old canes out, so looking forward to a second crop in the autumn! Yum!

wow. And I like the idea of the raspberry honey, if you make it you have to send me a jar. I always thought it'd be a cool retirement to make niche honeys like that.

Anyway, my 32 sq/ft raspberry bed (4x8) puts out probably 4 gallons of raspberries per year, as defined by maxing out a 1 gallon storage bag 4 times. Of course, some never make it into the house. This is enough for me to make 20-30 pints of my raspberry banana rum jam.

With 2500 sq/ft you can produce stuff on a commercial scale. Rent a booth at a farmer's market or something.

Of course... if it is truly wild and overgrown, maybe you don't get the yield per sq/ft I do in my highly cultivated and cared for patch. Some of my canes stretch up over 10 feet and my biggest berries are as long as half dollar is wide.
