"Yes" Or "No" To Forum "Alerts" On Gear Specials

I've signed up to receive desktop alerts from a few sites that offer substantial savings on various types of premium gear. The offers usually last only 10 to 30 minutes before they expire. I've posted a few of these in recent days.

The last offer I posted about was for a Mountainsmith Hydration Lumbar pack for $26.69 - a savings of 70%. The deal lasted 15 minutes.

I think that many of you would be interested in some of the better deals on brand-name items such as knives, packs, sleeping bags, tents, etc. Again, were talking HUGE savings here over regular retail prices for a very limited time - minutes.

My question is, do you want me to post a thread with a link to the best deals on these items, knowing that the deal will expire in 30 minutes or less?

Even though they are very good deals on awesome stuff, I usually am always to late for the deals and not a ton of people are on every 15 minutes. even if they were, they might not have time or the will to buy it right then. Thanks for the website though, I might sign up.

I voted no - I think that those that are interested in it probably have already signed up for the alerts. Or if you want to post them, just keep them all in the same thread and update it when a new alert comes in.

While I voted no I do appreciate the heads up on a good site. Perhaps we could make a sticky of bargain websites.

This. The idea that I will see one of these 15 minute alerts in time to take advantage of it, is not very likely to happen. What would be infinitely more useful, is an in-depth thread on how to sign up with these sites and get the alerts ourselves directly. That would be great.

Just go to http://www.steepandcheap.com/ and at the very top of the page there is a how it works section and explanation of how to sign up.

Like I need another way to spend money. (shaking head). The UPS and FEDEX guys both show up for Sunday dinner now. The postman comes over to watch the game with me. They all spend more time here than at home.

I'm signed-up for several deal emails.

- My favorite is http://www.dealnews.com This is a compliation site where they gather and post about 200 deals/day from al over the web in a bunch of categories from a few hundred well known retailers. You can stop by the site whenever. Or register for email alerts (based on keyword or store) and get an email whenever a deal is found. This is really handy for favorite restaurants, stores, etc. Understand, there is not that much survival stuff, it's all over the place. But I have saved a bundle here.

- eBay just started a daily deal program here: http://deals.ebay.com/deals if you're registered, they will send you emails each day on 4-5 deals... these are quite good, usually inventory blow-outs. Jack Links Jerky was a deal just the other day.

- http://www.meritline.com/ Meritline is Hong Kong based manufacturer of all sorts of lower-end gadgets and computer stuff. They have a daily email that is truely UNBELIEVEABLE! Most items w/ the coupon code given in the email are under $1 and that always includes FREE shipping! I've bought dozens of the deals since beginning of the year, the stuff is so cheap (I mean $.35 for a camera case or $1.00 for a USB cable) that they must be using forced labor and getting the postage for free from their government. Seriously, it's worth signing-up. Most of the stuff is computer related and some of it is crappy, but some of it is really pretty good. Today's BIG deal was $.49 (including shipping) for an Earphone Plug Adapter (3.5mm Male into 2.5mm Female so you can listen on flights, etc), but they also offered for $6.99 a Coleman FishPen Deluxe Pocket Fishing Pole.

Anybody got any others?
