I did a three day survival trip in Mississippi during Mid December. Was asked to keep folk updated. Well I started out on family land of several hundred acres. I brought a 22cal Air Rifle, poncho, canteen with cup, para cord, Ka-Bar, Colman Fire Starter wool pull over and gear. Wore military pants with combat boots. During the walk I found scrap sheet metal, aluminum cans and a saw saw blade. I built my shelter from bamboo as it's light but strong. Covered with pine and sprus. Second layer with lots of bamboo branches followed by thick layer of leaves. And a bed made of pine needles and thin top layer of leaves. I used the sheet metal as a door to my shelter an the other piece as a heat reflector. Two cans to boil water. Made a spear from saw blade. I set a few snares and a deadfall. Got a squrrrel from the deadfall and coon on a snare by the creek. Squirrel was great and coon was tough. I cut some water vine for something sweet, stuff is like sugarcane. And boiler several pine, moss and while acorn broths. The temp was 65 high and 40 low. I was comfortable with the fire shield. I tried to create fire with Bow Drill but considering we had lots of rain fall two day prior I didn't find dry wood so luckily I did bring my Magnisium fire starter. I stayed warm. Stayed busy. And all in all I had a blast. Going to do another before winter is over
