Nell's news story has been confirmed. The guy was also sticking parts into his pockets apparently. The local newspaper turned down a request from PETA to run an ad comparing this poor kid's murder to slaughtering animals for food.

The Westboro Baptist Church (whoever they are) plans on staging a protest outside the kid's funeral, they claim that incidents like this are God's way of punishing our evil society.

The Westboro whack jobs are from a church (made up mostly of one family) that protest fallen soldiers. As you say Trax - they say it's punishment for homosexuality. We recently had a funeral for a fallen hero here. The 900 or so of us that were there to honor a young man kept the 7 whack jobs away from the funeral and family.

Apparently their take this time is this happened because abortions are allowed in Canada. I sort of feel like showing up at the funeral and confronting them and saying. "well obviously, they're allowed. We let you in, didn't we?" Something like that.

They are some pretty sick SOB's. They've made quite a bit of news down here. This group http://www.patriotguard.org/ was formed to counter their actions.

Soooooo. If I show up at the funeral and slaughter the protesters is that God's way of punishing our evil society? Hmmmm?

Imagine that. Me?! A tool of redemption. Sure makes you stop and think don't it!

Well Rick, I don't know, you want to risk PETA using you in their advertising? Far as I'm concerned that's just as bad as these whack-o jobs and their protest. Hey...maybe God's punishing all those animals that are being slaughtered because of...who cares what the reason is, punish more pigs we can always use more bacon.

Anyway, I think the whole works of them are sick bastards and should leave the poor family alone.

Now that's funny. In a sick, demented sort of way, of course. But ... still funny.

Well the good news is at least the "religious" nut group didn't show at the kid's funeral.

I think some of them were turned back at the border,and the others must have been to chicken to stand on their own.

It was in the Winnipeg papers that people from all over the city were promising that they weren't going to let those guys interfere with the funeral. I thought that was way cool.

I have a new found respect for the people of Winnipeg.
