just curious here, where do the brain eating amoebas they are getting in FL fall into the size category? THAT is some scary stuff.
It's called Naegleria fowleri and they are pretty large. Any filter with an ABSOLUTE pore size of 1 micron or smaller will block them.

They were a problem in a lot of texas lakes a year or two ago, claimed a couple lives. haven't heard any reports of that this year!Quote:

It depends on the filter. Some, like Katadyn's Mini Ceramic Filter have silver impregnated ceramic filters. Others include a chemical filter in addition to the ceramic. Most just block the bugs as you said.
It seems that it enters through the sinuses. Probably why it is associated with jumping and diving into water and other activities usually done more often by younger people.Quote:
