Recently we have had a few new members (and older ones) anticipating some sort of marshall law instituted by the government or widespread anarchy. What makes you believe this is coming? What have you seen or read that makes you believe this is even a possibility? I am not talking about a localized incident in the wake of a traumatic event, but rather the widespread (worldwide?) collapse of civilization. We have had a former member that predicted the same. He was so convinced that it would happen by the begining of fall that he said if it doesn't happen everybody should ignore all of predictions and just consider them BS. Well it didn't happen. So what makes you believe it will happen and not just more Guests can not see images in the messages. Please register in the forum.

Historically, governmental collapse is a safe bet. How many governments have already fallen? 100%. How many original governments from the begging of recorded time are still around? Zero.

I'm not one of those guys, but anything is possible. Not likely, but possible. Yellowstone is a huge valcano and sceintist say that last time it blew it changed the climate around the world. No sunlight in north america for months would surely take its toll on the worlds food supply.

well we are about to have a coup here in canada the oppssing parties have formed a coalition and are planning on overthrowing the government, hopefully we won't have to involeve our military in this

You did. Seems as though some that post or have it in their bio that they are arming up for a total collapse of all civilization. It's great to be prepared for what you think may be possible. What I am asking is what makes those that think there will be a total collapse of civilization believe it.

......and no WW - it hasn't happened.

personaly ascribe to the "BS" portion. Our society (at least in the past and foreseeable future) is one of the most stable in the world. There are constant changes that many of us do not like, but a total collapse even in the current economic and political environment is an extreme unlikely event. And the train of thought that envisions the collapse being caused by an outside power are just a product of an over active imagination. Now down off my soap box

Are you referring to the post that Florida is gonna break loose & become part of Cuba? The one that says Save your Confederate money & Dixie cups, the South's gonna rise again? Or the one about eating your neighbor first and saving your dog? Global economic drought, war, nuclear or with clubs? I have read so many I stay awake standing guard with my faithful attack beagle.

Sorry crash but there is no way for me to give a full answer to this without special permission to talk politics. The short answer answer is i think anything is possible but not necessarily probable. With the instability in the world today it would only take one trigger event to occur and all bets are off. I do not live my life preparing for the teotwawki but i wont be completely shocked if it were to happen.

..... you bubble head(for those of you not in the loop, that is Navy jargon for a submariner) weren't you paying attention during the cold war? No I'm not talking about the cold war it self but the slight of hand by the industrial complexes to make govt.s dependent upon the and thus influence world govt.s. Just look at our own country... in many ways it resembles ancient Greece with it's many city states and the rot of the Roman empire. Add to that the legal thievery going on by appointed govt. officials. We are headed toward a global depression. Not that it couldn't be prevented, it could, but the govt. would need to address the problems.... not the symptoms. The first step would have to be bringing the mainstream media in compliance with their original mandate....."just the facts maam" who, what, when, where, why? No bias, No dogma, No indoctrination. Here is an interesting fact... Look up the word "invasion" Then try to convince me the the illeagal problem (20 to 40 million illeagals)we have in this country isn't an invasion! No country can sustain that! and the money they make is being sent back to Mexico. We presently have so many US dollars leaving this country, when we get hit again (and we will), it will kill our economy and as we go so goes the world. Granted the 3rd and 4th world won't be as affected as the rest of the world, but then the Alaskan out back won't be as affected as the urban and suburban areas of the country.

It would take a number of events to get us to the point of martial law. Sadly none of those events would surprise me to be honest, and I'm generally a "things-will-get-worse-before-better" type.

I have heard about the whole "world is going to end in 2012" according to the Mayan calendar. Even a movie coming out about it too.

On the other hand, I recall back in 1990/1 how they predicted Desert Storm and the 1st Iraq War would last for months and send the US into depression and all that. Oh wait...
