Kid-napper's at work in Florida

Them folks down Florida way are up to no good again.

(CNN) -- A missing 5-year-old Florida girl was most likely abducted from her home in rural Florida, police said Wednesday.

Haleigh Cummings, 5, went missing Monday night from her home near Orlando, police said.

1 of 2 Haleigh Cummings has been missing since 3 a.m. Tuesday, when her father's girlfriend called 911 to say the child had vanished from her Putnam County home.

"There's no longer any reason to believe that the child simply wandered outside," said Putnam County Sheriff's Office Maj. Gary Bowling.

The police must "assume abduction," he said.

"All the answers to why you'd want to take a 5-year-old are ugly," Bowling said.

Police have no official suspects, but are treating everyone they interview as one.

"All the world's a suspect" now, Bowling said.

A nationwide Amber Alert says the girl was last seen wearing a pink shirt and underwear. Police plan to use infrared aviation technology after dark Wednesday in their search.

"She's a 5-year-old child, and she's afraid of the dark," Bowling said.

On Monday night, Ronald Cummings' girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, was watching Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother, police said.

Croslin put Haleigh to bed at 8 p.m. and then went to bed herself at 10 p.m., they said. Croslin told police she woke up at 3 a.m. and discovered Haleigh missing. Croslin then called 911 and told a dispatcher that she found a brick on the floor of the family's double-wide trailer, according to CNN affiliate WJXT-TV.

I was in Satsuma yesterday. I stopped to see if they were taking volunteers for searching. They thanked me and said they had all they needed for now. There are a lot of questions surrounding it, with very few apparent answers.

It's to bad. A child shouldn't have to go through that kind of stuff.

In the news article it says it near Orlando. Satsuma is closer to Gainesville, Ocala or Daytona Beach then to Orlando.

North of Orlando by a bit. Some of the national coverage that I have seen seem to be merging two stories. The Kaylee Anthony tragedy was out of Orlando. This girl - Haleigh (sounds like Kalee) is about an hour or so north. Even the Equi-Search and Rescue guys are mixing them up in interviews. They were searching for Kaylee a couple of months ago.

I usually check that site quite often since I have two daughters. You'd be amazed how often it can change in your neighborhood. I worked on a cut cable yesterday and didn't realize the homeowner was listed on there until just now.

One of the news reports said that there were 42 registered sex offenders in the area. When the FBI announced that they would be interviewing each of them - over 20 showed up within an hour, on the police station steps, waiting to be interviewed and polygraphed.

Yea, I live across lake George from Satsuma. Thats an awful Thing. It seems it happen here way to much, All we can do is pray that child is OK,,,,, Just awful

We all feel the pain on this one we pretty much have Satsuma covered
Runs with beer, Crash, Palm stalker and others in this area keep your eyes and hears
open you never know. I would LOVE to put who ever is involed in this..........
well they would be the SURVIVAL situation of their LIFE. We can only Pray at this time

What has this world come to with the sex offenders, I can't imagine anyone hurting something as precious as a child. I hope this one turns out well.

Theyre positive it was an abduction.Lets just hope it was by someone wanting a little girl as their own instead of some pervert that would just kill her.Say a female who may have lost a child or something.This may be a longshot because shes already 5 years old.This usually occurs with babies.As the father of a daughter it sickens me that our panty waist judicial system gives these monsters any rights at all.Inocent till found guilty is all they diserve and then they should be hung in public,on TV,and then cremated with there ashes flushed down the toilet.Telavise this as well.And this should take place immediatly after the trial but no...They lay in a cushy bunk,meals prepared for them,ac in summer,warm heat in winter,regular doctor visits,a library and on and on for years,while were paying for all this.

Local news is reporting that the searchers found "items of interest" today. They are not releasing any more information about what they found, or where they found it.

Crash, I wanted to go help search myself, but I'd be good to no one in this condition.
I pray she's found alive and as for the P.O.S. that took her, well very bad things should happen to that person.
