eco-terrorists

So, if I don't recycle my neighbors all kind of look at me like "how dare you?" and if I throw something out the truck window, I'm sure as he!! going to get a ticket for littering, but if I do something to try to stop the folks in these pictures...I'm an eco-terrorist. Look at the pictures, who's terrorizing the ecosystem?

yeah, tell me about it...thing is, once they start labeling you as an eco-terrorist or something along that line, it shows you're stepping on the right toes. Step harder!

I think we should all be striving to clean up the environment. Working to enact legislation based on sound science, exposing problems that exist, etc. The eco-terrorists that I think of (and IMO aptly named) are groups like Earth Liberation Front (ELF) that blow up and burn millions of dollars of private property because they don't agree with the lifestyle of owning an SUV or living in a big house. This is done in the name of saving the environment, when in fact their actions put more pollutants into the envrionment than anything they claim to be concerned about. But then again, their goal isn't really the environment is it?

I think eco-terrorist are just people that want to clean the earth but they get too involved. You're right eco-terrorism is just a label for people that are trying to do something good.

NOW, I see why you'all filter the water........Big filter to filter the refrigerator and 55 Gallon plastic drum. Damn, even a REAL man would not drink that water.

Actually, if you are referring to my post (not sure if you are) I wasn't saying that at all.

Thats right hopeak,that is just part of the reason I don't drink the water around here anymore,all the pesticides and other chemicals farmers have to spray on their crops just to get a decent crop if mother nature cooperates is another reason.

Around here,the creeks and streams flood for the very same reason that you see in that middle picture,because people are too lazy and cheap to remove the freon from refrigerators and AC's and have them hauled away properly,funny thing though,the ones dumping that sh*t are the ones with their hands out and/or complaining that the government isn't doing enough to keep the creeks and streams cleaned and now their home is flooded so they want the government to give them money and give them a new home to live in .

When I was deployed to Kuwait I couldn't believe the trash and waste that was scattered all over the place. A country that is so wealthy yet to look at it one would think it's one large dump. Cars abodoned along the road, trash along the highways, oil, gas and antifreeze just poured on the ground. The country was disgusting. I remeber we were escorting concrete trucks to the plant and as we turned off the highway, onto a dirt path, there were camel carcasses scattered all along the field. A few days later we escorted more trucks there and all the carcasses were covered over with concrete. There were at least 50 concrete mounds all over that field, what a way to dispose of camels. And these were all visible from the highway too.

I question the whole ELF Vail arson case. The summer before the lodge on Vail mountain burned down the Forest Service had denied their permit to expand the lodge. Vail was not very happy about it, then their lodge catches on fire, burns to the ground and guess what... they got the permit to build their bigger lodge. It was even bigger than their original expansion design.

I see that as very suspicious to say the least. Seems to me to be more like corporate terrorism than environmental terrorism.

There's a whole lot more than the lodge on Vail Mt that has been attributed to, and claimed by ELF.

Well, I just meant that what corporate/industrial pollution is doing terrifies me.. therefore: terrorism and they paid some really good spin doctors to call the people that oppose them terrorists for the media to get hold of and we know how the media loves good copy. Sure glad I didn't set off any debates in here. I don't condone anyone going around blowing things up, if I did condone it, I'd do it myself rather than suggesting somebody else do it (I got really good training from aforementioned industrial polluters!) I believe in the sanctity of life and going around blowing things up kind of threatens that.
