Got an inch on the ground here right now,but another storm coming through tonight with accumultaions of up to 10" ,UNLESS we get thunder snow, then they said accumulations would be huge, there are supposed to be periods of sleet, with up to 2" of ice down in amongst all the snow.....

Good old thunder snow. I grew up just off the Great Lakes, Upstate NY. Only saw it a couple times, but as you say was awesome. We in NJ are bracing for a winter assault of a trace to 2 inches!!!! Better run out to get bread, bacon, eggs, milk, don't remember why, but seems the thing to do

Here in the Southern Part of the Garden State it will be standing room only at all the supermarkets this afternnoon. By closing time all of the bread/milk/eggs will be sold out. Everyone will be ready for TEOTWAWKI with the 2" of snow coming in.

91g,, my daughter manages a bakery at one of the large supermarkets, she says the stuff is flying off the shelves. Mmmm,, maybe we could be snowed in for as much as 15 to 20 minutes if it gets real bad. Hey Nell! How about a gallon of milk since you are going anyways

Not as cold as our brothers up north get but still cold enough to put a cool breeze up your shorts.

For folks not used to the snow I guess stocking up on milk and bread is normal. Especially since they don't have the snow equipment. I travel to my companies plants in the south, and am always amazed how 1/4" of snow can shut things down.
Now an ice storm, that is a different story, those can knock our power for days and very dangerous to drive on.
I hope you all stay safe.

Thermometer said minus 20, yesterday morning - and today. Today was livable. Strong winds yesterday morning had wind chill down to minus 50.

Warmed up to -15C (5F) and it's been snowing hard all day. Somewhere out there on the lakes is my Sweetie, snowshoeing the 40kms back home after his 3 months away. Guess he's making good use of the GPS and compass today, visibility is just a few hundred yards. He should be here some time tomorrow.
