    Yeah, that.

    It makes no sense to have your "real" light source permanently attached to your knife, because it makes it virtually impossible to use your knife and your lightsource at the same time.

    The only knife with an LED that I would recommend, is the Victorinox Midnight MiniChamp. But that is more of a map-reading LED light.

    Yep I agree with everyone else, the headlamp or mini-lantern is a better option than the LED on knife.

    You can get a decent LED to put on the brim of your hat. Seems to me a light on a knife would be not only dangerous and unwieldy, but the light almost COULDN'T be where you need it. It'd be shining over the top of the blade, and you'd need it at the edge.

    I too understand that there are things ya need (toilet paper) and things ya can't live without (combination HAM radio/bug zapper/mp3 player). Boys will be boys, and so will most middle-aged men...

    If you really want both together, I would suggest getting a good knife with a lanyard hole and a mini LED light and just tie them together using paracord or something. That way if you need them they're both available in the same place, and you don't have to settle for poor knife or light quality.
