    Default Free Tents...

    Hey all,
I have a couple of giant, canvas "MASH" style wall tents that I would like to give awayfor free. These tents are enormous field hospital Army issue tents. They are in good condition, and do not come with poles, or instructions. Please do not inquire if you have plans to resell them on ebay or somewhere else. I want to give them to someone who will use them!
They weigh about 200 lbs, and are rolled up to the size of a gun safe. So, shipping will be an issue. but I will crate them and ship them- If you pay for the shipping.

I might be able to find a home for them. Can a guy order the poles for them?

    RMChief-
Yeah a pole kit can be ordered $95 (its alot of poles) I think I already have one guy who wants one, the other I'd gladly give you. We could meet in Livingston, or you could come out to my place and pick it-up. That would be much easier than shipping one out.

Jason, that is a very generous offer. What era are they from? Does good condition = no leaks? If you still have 1 of them by next Friday, please pm me. Also please let me know what the dimensions will be after creating. I have a set price for shipping my Harley (over 500lbs) anywhere in the lower 48. I work with the Scouting groups through the Elks Club, and this would give them their own home behind the Elks building, we have a huge piece of land so it would easily fit at the Central Florida location. I also know the local VFW brothers would help set it up. I just need to know that I have enough funds to make it happen.

It actually wouldn't be for me. So if Gray Wolf has a good use for it send it his way. I just happen to know a few outfitters around here who'd probably want it.

I would love to have them for a scout group. Put my name in the hat & let me figure out how much shipping will be. Also, I travel alot what part of the country are you in? Actually I would use one for scouts & the other as a base camp for elk hunts. Pm me your zip code if you dont mind so I can calculate shipping.

    GWolf-
They are from the 1970's. They are in good condition (worth the cost of shipping for sure) always stored inside when not in use, no mice or moth damage, and should be leak free. However, they have not been set-up in several years, so I hate to say that they are 100% tight and dry. But, the nice thing about canvas is you can always mend and patch if required.
I was given 4 of these tents from a guest (dude) ranch that used them for special events. They decided to update to more modern better looking white "wedding" style tents and they just donated them to me about 10 years ago. I used them for a while as a camp for my river outfitting business, then I set one up in the mountains in the fall and used it as a hunting camp, and then left it up all winter and would run my dogs out to it and use it as a warming hut. After setting them up a few times I decided, they just were too darned big and took to long to set-up for my uses. I am keeping one of them though just in case I ever need it.
The ideal use of these tents would be for large groups, and long-term set-up. This is way to much tent for a 4 person hunting camp. A scout troop base camp would be ideal, or something similar. I wouldnt even think about setting one of these tents up if it wasnt going to be up for at least a week. They are about 4 times larger than a standard wall tent.

Bump to the top. Are you still sitting on these, Jason, or did you ship them out?
