Default Better way to season cast iron?

Here is an interesting article that basically says that flaxseed oil is a better oil to season cast iron with.

I will probably give it a try sometime.

I guess if you have new stuff to season....may be a great thing.
If you try it let us know.

We just use whatever cooking oil we are using at the time for a rub down when done with them....but they all have been around for a long time.

Any food safe oil works just as well as any other. All that matters is getting it to smoke temp, to polymerize the lipids. It forms a carbon chain with a bond to the iron.

I have used just about any oil that I have on had at the time, with similar results to the top image in the article.

Flax seed oil is the same thing as linseed oil.

So what you are using to season your cast iron I am using to refinish my gunstocks.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Well, yeah, sort of. They both come from the flax seed but linseed oil uses petroleum solvents where flaxseed oil does not.
