Hello everyone!
Here is a short introduction about myself:
Your Approximate Age: late 30s
Your Gender: male
Your Geographic Location: Croatia, mountainous area near the Adriatic coast
Your Occupation: economist, regional development expert
Your Prior Relevant Training: basic military training, hiking
The Nature of Your Prior Experience: I grew up in a rural and barely populated area of Croatia. Therefore, I am experienced in basic skills like fire-making, hunting, fishing, foraging, orientation etc. but I have rarely done any solo-overnighters in the mountains.
Your Level of Experience: As said above, I grew up learning the stuff I know now but thanks to Youtube and forums like this one you can always learn new stuff.
Your Preparedness Planning: I always keep a wilderness survival kit/ get-home bag in my car, atv or kayak when I'm out in the wilderness. It is a compact (20 lbs) but proven kit that actually saved me twice. The kit is constantly evolving but apart from that I am not that much into preparedness. I prefer to call my other stuff "outdoor edc".
Your Interests and Hobbies: hiking/ moutaineering, fishing, bushcrafting, wildflife and landscape photography, kayaking (next year hopefully also packrafting), biking, off-road driving
Your Membership and Learning Objectives: I want to discuss wilderness skills and gear in general and eventually learn specific skills (knife-making sounds interesting).
