We used to have a pair of I believe what was green herons nesting in our pines years ago. It was the funniest thing, we started finding small fish in the back yard, and finally the kids, being small at the time was getting scared in the yard by these big birds. Our yard was so covered with trees, that it was difficult to actually see them. Can't remember how many years this went on,but quite a few. Had seen them over at a creek that came through our area.

That is a great blue heron. Green herons are much smaller birds.

Here is a green heron in the black olive tree in my backyard. The bird you hear in the video is a limpkin.



I get visited by black crowned night herons, yellow crowned night herons, white ibis, glossy ibis, limpkins, great egrets, white egrets, snowy egrets, cattle egrets, great blue herons, little blue herons, tri-colored herons. One of the benefits of living within a mile of the glades.
