Our canvas is 100% cotton Army Duck that has 54 threads per inch in one direction and 42 threads per inch in the other direction. Its weight is 10.38 oz. per square yard. It is chemically treated with "SUNFORGER" for everything that "SUNFORGER" offers. This chemical treatment makes the fabric FLAME RETARDANT (per CPAI 84), WATER REPELLENT, MILDEW AND FUNGUS RESISTANT. It also has a Marine Finish and is Boatshrunk. Due to these processes, there may be a slight variation of color from panel to panel. But there is nothing left out of the treatment just to save a few cents.
Each shipment of canvas that enters Spring Valley Lodges is tested for water repellency before we even start our inspections. We take a large piece of canvas, make a deep depression in the center and fill that depression with water. After a minimum of 24 hours the canvas is checked for leakage and weeping.
After verifying good water repellency, the canvas is then placed over a bright light and every square inch is checked for flaws, knots or anything else that we think might affect your tent structurally or visually. Next at the cutting table, the canvas is visually checked a second time before cutting. After being hand pinked to a specific width, the canvas is cut to the correct length for your shelter. When we have all the material needed to complete your shelter, it goes to the sewing machine where it is inspected a third time prior to stitching.
Upon completion, the shelter is spread out on a large table and checked a fourth time. All canvas, loops, ties, and re-enforcements are checked once again. Next we measure the tent and place all necessary information into a comprehensive setup sheet. Due to the rapid fluctuation of the canvas market, contact us for current pricing. Pricing is subject to change without notice.
