    Default This Weekends Trip

No camping this weekend. My nephew got married on Saturday.

His bride wanted to have the wedding at a fish camp in Jensen Beach.

We went up Friday afternoon and we stayed at the fish camp in cottages. We spent a nice day with family and then the wedding Saturday afternoon. After the wedding's DJ shut down. We moved over to my brother's cottage and were having a couple of beers and a few were smoking some high octane herb.

I look toward the entrance of the place and see a silhouette about 150 to 200 yards away in full tactical rig. I mean way loaded down tactical. He walks out and kind of leans out and looks at us. Then sneaks back into the shadows. I have no idea what is going on. But, I told everyone that might not be completely kosher to put it away and I walked toward where I saw the guy.

I get down by where I saw him and don't see anyone. Then he steps out from behind a building corner that is in the pitched black. I ask him what he is doing and if he is a cop or security. He steps into the light and I can see this is the most tactical sheriff I have ever seen. LOL He says sheriff and gives me his name and tells me he is a detective in something like the serious crimes unit. Which is a label for a homicide detective who has to investigate other serious crimes as well.

I ask him what the hell he is doing and he says he is on a security detail for the property. He asks me what I was doing walking down that way. I said I seen a tricked out dude "sneaking around" and didn't know if it was some tactical nut job looking to shoot up the place. He asks me what I would do if he was?

I said, "I would do what I could until I couldn't do anything. I would buy my family and friends as much time as I could until I couldn't anymore. Until my last breath."

He looks at me and says, "That is badass!"

He said he was gonna walk the property and then swing by us. He stayed and hung out all night until 5 am on the pier. Laughing and fishing. Invited everybody to the range with him.

This dude was all geared up he had a New York reload (G27) on his vest just above his drop rigged G22.

The property said they had 80 edible fruiting plants on the property. So, I had a couple of nice walks and I talked to the lady that works the weekend there. I did not take my camera and used my phone to take a couple of pictures.

Kapok Tree used for tinder and fur waterproof fibers for life jackets. Used for blow gun dart fluff for fletchings in the Amazon. Covered in very sharp thorns.

Little fishing. Plus soaked a couple of crab traps with some chicken innards. But, someone must a pulled the traps up Saturday morning. Because they were in a different spot then when they were set. And nothing in them when we pulled them today.

Most stuff that I knew was not in season. Stuff like Lantana fruits year round. But, they listed a new type of Mullberry that I had never heard of.

    Bananas

This was off the property. But, its some kind of crazy tree climbing cactus in a cabbage palm.

There were lots of traveler palms. The stalks are filled with water. Though It is kind of like drinking water from an air plant. I have and it is clear and tastes good. But, its probably a bad idea because birds and insects could get droppings down into the plant.

You can see the size of the chambers that fill with water. These were cut by the landscaper I guess.

There were a lot more I checked out. Its a cool place that I will probably go back to. Not wilderness by any stretch. But cool and relaxing.
