Last night's Tornato Warning

All is well in my area, but we had to take shelter in the basement (a 8'x8' utility basement). A very large storm came through last night, covering Ontario Canada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. I hope all others did as well. Our cell phones signaled the emergency warning along with the TV broadcast. When I turned off the TV I could hear the sirens outside, not when the TV was on though. We normally don't have much problems with tornadoes in NE Ohio, quite a few watches but not many touch downs. This year the Cleveland area has had a couple touch downs as well as western Pennsylvania and New York. Just a reminder to keep your emergency preparation plan and equipment up to date!

Thanks Rick, it's always a wake up call when you have to go trough something like that.

On another note, friends of ours was out to dinner when the sirens went off. I understand that most of the people got up from their seats and went outside to take a look; I know, real smart right. Even smarter yet was the restaurant locked them out! The restaurant is apart of a major chain. The people had no idea where to go.

I also took note of the communication situation while we were taking shelter. The power was going off and on regularly and with it went our Wi-Fi. We were able to still use our phones for weather updates via our cell service. My girlfriend called some family members but many of the calls kept failing, text seem to be more reliable. My weather band radio worked uninterrupted, we get a good signal here being were right on Lake Eire.
