As a moderator on another board, and even though I am new, The board is better off without ****ake disturbers. It can sometimes be a painful process but worth it in the long run.

As a Canadian, it is embarrassing to read what that fool posted.

OT topics are fun and interesting but certain subjects will always lead to hard feeling and harsh words. Politics is a prime example.

Everyone makes mistakes. We're not in his shoes and don't know all the details. This thread is inconsistent. edit: As for asking to be banned.

There have been alot of comparisons for what BS was referring (Obama & Hitler).

If all provocative subjects are banned and, everyone who doesn't fall in line, then what?

Lastly, He is a friend. I can overlook mistakes as I would hope others could of me.

Well, I'm leaving in about 30 minutes for our annual deer hunting / camping trip. I'm really looking forward to this year more than I can remember. It's going to be nice just being in the woods and cooking over the campfire. Later.

Rebel, he may be a friend, but he's also an adult; hopefully a responsible one. We've posted many times on here that profanity is out of place because of our young members. I was content to just edit his political posts every time I got a complaint. (Usually more than one member.) However, His 1st post on this thread coupled with the profane attack on another member in the 2nd post, & it isn't going to fly. Add to that the e-mailed complaints I received over these last two posts & his downright challenge to me & he's gone. He had plenty of warnings all along the way. I can overlook mistakes as long as they don't affect the Forum & it's members. I also cannot allow a member to successfully challenge the authority of the Forums the way he did. That went waaay over the line. If I let him get away with that then we're going to have trolls coming out of the woodwork. Have a great time around the campfire.

Every society need rules and laws including this one. This forum is a society. If you don't have rules and laws then you have anarchy. I'm glad we have this place to come to and share thoughts and ideas intelligently and rationally without being burdened by ignorance and vulgarity. In order for this society to stay friendly and sociable we have to have an element that makes sure everyone stays polite.

I did not get a chance to see any of his post but it is obvious he is a rear echilon dweeb who can't remain civil on any subject and should be bannedhowever in the USA politics are about freedom and any one who won't allow polotics is puting a damper on FREEDOM. Any post about take my gun from my cold dead hand or jackbooted thugs or the failing economy is about politics(freedom) and relegion is about our imortal souls . We should be held to a desent behavior rule but using one guy to support restricting a subject that is close to many hearts doesn't ring with trust but lack of confidence in our felow man.

I understand what you are saying but in the USA a private party is still obligated to honor the constitution and the laws of the land. I respect the site owners wishes but one would think it should be across the board and not to wait until someone makes a nusance of his self to invoke the rule.

You misunderstand. Because we live in a free society the site owner is free to live by his own rules. He is free to create a place for dialogue on any subject they want. But they are also free to create a set of rules that don't allow discussion on other subjects.

Fact is I like talking politics too. However I have found that some on message boards like it too much and take it way too personally. Some go over the top and friendly banter becomes contentious and wars develop between irrational combatants which eventually bring the whole board down.

The other option is to rid the board of all those people who are unable to to have civil discussion on topics like that, but the board does lose a certain flair after that. Too vanilla is bad as well.

Moderators have better things to do rather than be baby-sitters for childish people who would never actually say the things they type to somebody's face. So understand the rules are there to the general good of everybody on the board and accept them, you can't change them because the site owners are free to do what they want.

Red lake let a site start talking about racial issues in a derogatory manner and let the goverment get wind of it.
I understand that in Canada that speaking out about mixed mariage or even quoating the Holy Bible(anti islamic verses) is a crime of hate speach and can land you in prison, I think that something even on the internet originating in Canada would be scrutinized.
My point possiably poorly made is that it is the few who are causing trouble and should be banned for trouble making and being crude and rude(never good tactics to making your point) the rest of us adults should be able to have a civil and spirited debate, also there is now only sporadic inforcement of these rules.
In closing I would point out that no one can make rules that are contrary to the laws of the land rather they be prohibitive laws or laws against evil.
