Again, I have been really busy with lots of activities, so this is a little late.
In July, I took the scouts on a 6 day backpacking trip in the Uintas of North-eastern Utah. We started at Mirror Lake, hiked down to Pinto Lake, then Grandaddy Reservoir, then up close to the Four Lakes Basin, then back over to Mirror Lake. It was a 30 mile loop. The weather was cool and sunny for the most part, with rain only on Friday morning, til about 2pm. I tried to get them to go as light as possible. My big mistake was not doing a pack check. I assumed that after having done 2 trips in the 2 months prior, they would have their gear down. But, I later found out that the two smallest and youngest boys had packed too many snacks, which weighed them down. Actually, it was their mothers who packed too much. Luckily that problem was easily solved by the rest of us helping out and lightening their loads.I took my fishing rod, and pretty much didn't catch a thing.
It ended up being a nice week in the woods. One interesting thing that happened, on night 4, I thought I heard a large man walking through the woods close to my tent. I had pitched my tent on the far side of the rest of the scouts, and the noise was on the opposite side of me as the scouts were. If it was one of them, they would have been on the other side of me. The next morning, the other leader said he woke up and saw eyes in the bushes, about where I thought I heard someone walking. The animal then stood up and walked off. Maybe it was bigfoot...who knows.

Of course, the next morning, we made sure to tell all the scouts that it was bigfoot.

And of course, I also did a video. If you think the video is boring, at least skip to the end. There are a few good parts at the end.
