Hey everyone, i'm lilshadowxzx (Matt) just joined like a few minutes ago.
Joined here to hopefully learn a thing or two about surviving and well in general outdoor knowledge.
Gonna go ahead and C+P the intro guide (makes it neater i suppose.)

Your Approximate Age - turning 17 next month

Your Gender- male

Your Geographic Location (small town in West Virginia, family ranch in Texas, or the “the Lower East Side”) - Virginia, city

Your Occupation (present and relevant past, such as military, technical, etc.) - high school student (assuming that counts.)

Your Prior Relevant Training (all types, such as first aid, military, firearms, survival, etc.)- currently not very much training, at least not in the wild, only in city/homeless situations (learned from sister who had to be for a while.)

The Nature of Your Prior Experience (Terrain, Season, Number of times/years, and longest duration in Wilderness) Only real "experience" was a temporary stay at a camp in Appalachian Mountains

Your Level of Experience (novice, intermediate, advanced, expert, instructor, etc.) Novice/noob

Your Preparedness Planning (type and level) (not 100% certain as to what this is referring to honestly. gonna guess it means what you're planning? if so then trying to plan for if i have to survive in a wild situation)

Your Interests and Hobbies (gardening, wilderness skills, urban survival preparation, knife-making, firearms, food storage, backpacking, etc. ) Planning to backpack when i finish high-school possibly afterwords (providing i gain enough skills) attempt to purchase land/survive in some woodlands. (Though i am aware that will be very challenging considering i have little-no wild training yet and would have to train a lot.) other then that i guess Writing is a hobby, alongside drawing, and if animals count, then them.

Your Membership and Learning Objectives- Listed in the previous 2 i'd say.

Yeah though, hello WS.net and hopefully i'm welcome here. (i've lurked a bit before, am aware of the public opinion here on those who desire to "go into the wild" and survive, hopefully i don't get the same response as they did, well the ones i've seen.) Anyways, hello everyone.

All are welcome here. Wanting to learn how to survive in the wilderness is vastly different than running off to it with no plan. When you said

think of it more as learning to homestead, not running off.

Thanks, was just afraid i'd come off as one of those people that sign up here and post about a plan to pull a "into the wild" moment. (i forget one's name but it got a lot of hate/posts along with 2 people in Canada that had claimed to go out & film their survival, not sure if it ever happened but also got quite a response.) and i suppose that's true since it'd be staying in a patch of land that's owned. The only foreseeable problem would be where it's located. (i've only seemed to find texas land and well, not probably the best spot to start out in the desert.)

Welcome to the forum. Yes, there's a vast difference from "I want to learn to do xyz." from "I don't know squat but I'm running off to squat on someone else's land and do what I want." So yes, you are very welcome.

Yeah went back and read some of them again and noticed a difference too haha thanks! Just curious how is alaska? (Heard it's extremely beautiful there but also extremely challenging if you don't have a working heater, and way to store food securely.)

Alaska is wonderful. The weather in the southern part of the state is much more mild then the interior, where I live. So yea, a good heater/stove is a must. I store my food very securely in a deep freeze lol.
