Well, we've missed the point. We have someone who came on here pretending to be something they were not with the intent of using us as a research bed to enhance a product they are selling. One could surmise that they don't really know what needs to be included in EDC or a GHB for that matter and so they need us to tell them what should be included even though they are selling said products. It really speaks to a lack of ethics and trust. Sad.

Regardless of the OP's dubious motives and sincerity, it is still a valid question that might aid others wondering the same thing, but reluctant to ask here in the open. I always look at such things as a good teachable moment for others, rather than dwell on some douchebag that is only trolling trying to sell their garbage. Our answers might be the help some more deserving soul needs, and to refuse to answer the OP means those folks might not get the answers they are looking for.

That or they need to get unreluctant, speak up and ask their question.

It shouldn't take much imagination for city folk to figure out what would be useful in an EDC and what's an overkill. "Nice to have it and not need it..." maybe great in a BOB, but in a city EDC it's not realistic and you'll end up leaving it at home more often than not, which of course, defeats the purpose.
I've honed mine over the years and at this point everything fits in a small "airport size" ziploc which fits into any purse I own as well as a waist belt. Paracord and duck tape aren't in it btw, and neither is an Altoid tin with a fishing line and lures.

I defer to Ms B as the site urban survival Guru.

    1. Find a proper bag.
    2. Stuff it with everything you remember your Mom carrying in her purse.
    3. Don't forget to carry the bag.

I like your philosophy - k.i.s.s.. A few devils-advocate type points pop to mind, however.

    a) NYC is located at the intersection of a river and an ocean. People fish in NYC every day rain or shine for free food. Me, I'd prolly go fer rats and pigeons. PCB's and mercury give me gas, but who am I to judge? Either way a few hooks and monofil couldn't hurt...

    b) I once used a jerry-rigged fish hook (from a paperclip) and string to retrieve a set of car keys. I wish I had had the real thing - would've made it a bit easier. In the end I had to call either AA or AAA (I forget which), because too many people/coworkers stopped by to ask questions or to offer helpful suggestions.

    c) I once used a piece of pseudo-paracord to secure the trunk lid of a car that had been in a minor fender-bender to make it driveably safe so I could get it home for repairs. I now carry cordage of some type almost everywhere, and I drive everywhere with both eyes on my rearview mirror at all times.

    d) My garage remote goes off if you jiggle it, so I keep it in an altoid tin. Sometimes, albeit rarely, I keep altoids in my altoids tin. Lousy for rat bait, and my toilet keeps spitting them out when I try to flush them down.

    e) Once my ziplock got a hole in it, and I used duct tape to fix it. It keeps my salt shaker safe from the world and vice versa. Then I got a new ziplock. Don't get me started about catsup.

    f) I forgot what I was going to say next. Oh well, cheers. I'd go back and reread the beginning of my post, but it's so long...

LHA, that's the stuff for the BOB...at least for me.
My EDC has a very targeted but limited purpose...it exists in addition to a more comprehensive GHB (get home bag) which I keep at the office. Then there's the BOB which is designed to see me through a few weeks of "sight seeing".
