Us old goobers don't really need it unless you expect a dosage so high that it will cook your thyroid. It's the younguns you need to worry about. Chances are I won't live long enough to come down with thyroid cancer from any exposure.

I thought I heard somewhere that there were a total of 40,000 tons of spent fuel rods. That may be scattered throughout the facility but still a lot of rods. According to the NRC, "... All the available information continues to indicate Hawaii, Alaska, the U.S. Territories and the U.S. West Coast are not expected to experience any harmful levels of radioactivity. " (last paragraph)
