    Default Stormy Night

We've got some pretty intense storms moving through the area with a cool light show. I tried to capture some pictures of the lightning to no avail. Here's a little view though.

May not be the kind of night to be on the AT with minimal gear.

We've got snow coming tonight, then rain (as much as an inch) for Friday. I think my plans to take the snowmachines out this weekend might be cancelled!

Great Pics Crash! Have you tried running video for lightning then pulling a still picture from that? I've never tried it so I cant tell you how but I know it can be done and I'll bet you can figure out a way!

We have about 8-12" of snow on the way between now and sat morn....I thought for sure the snow was done and just a lot of rain between now and may..... even with snow, I am still gonna grill some steaks on the deck this weekend.

I haven't tried it. Someday when I get a better camera I can put a (I think it's called) flash detector for photgraphing lightning. I've been trying for a while - ain't giving up on it.

Crash, use a long exposure time to catch lighting on film. If you have the option, hold the shutter open with a cable button and open it before the strike and let it close after. Depending on how close the storm is or what is in the frame, the lighting should come out clear, but the environment may be fuzzy.

This is a point and shoot, so that's not an option. I may have to break out the ole 35mm someday if I'm still not successful. Usually I'm out during the day to try and capture it as the afternoon fronts of summer roll through.

Me too. You do the best you can raising them. You teach them right from wrong. You know they're well rooted with a firm grasp on things. But, sometimes it's tough to let them out on their own in scary situations. Ahhhhhhh kids.
