drinking water scenario
Assume you are alone and have a minimum of equipment. The season is fall. The days are warm and dry, but the nights are cold. Your water is gone; you become very thirsty. You finally come to a dried-up watercourse. Where is your best chance of finding water at this watercourse?
Find a bend in the watercourse and dig on the outer area of the bend. preferably in a shady area. or behind large boulers or logs etc. filter through grass, cloth etc and purify. (in SL at least..) oftern animals such as porcupine and elephant will do the job for you. they can smell water and oftern will dig deep to find it.
Just be aware of your surroundings. (Its not a good idea to get in an argument on water rights with an elephant!)

hmmm good thinking jay i probably will see some pink elephants tonight if i get thirsty i'll just squeeze the crap out of them or was that squeeze the crap for water i'm so confused..
on a sreious note i would look for sand and dig down till i hit water, althought where i am it is note a concern for me there are thousands of lakes around me, my concerns are sfea water over no water.

Look for any bees in the area. They seldom stray more than a couple of miles from water. Flys will be even closer. In the neighborhood of a hundred yards or so. Swarming flies above an area is a sure sign that water has been there recently. Monitor flocks of birds particularly in the morning or evening. Even if you can find some damp mud or sand you can drop it in your bandana and should be able to wring some water out of it.

Transpiration or solar? . . .Either in fall!
In the fall I have used transpiration and/or solar stills. They work well because of the dew that collects much easier in the fall time.
Everything I have posted is pure fantasy. I have not done any of the things that I have claimed to have done in my posts. I actually live in Detroit.
Jay that's where I would dig because that is the part of the river or stream that flows the fastest, is less silted, deepest and the last part to go dry. I have a few times dug in the center of a small stream bed and found water.
