Got some knife stuff today

Finally got my order from knifekits. Got my knife blank, micarta, rod, foam and eyelet setter. Still waiting on my texas knife order, but it's a start. Didn't realize how tough micarta is. I really need a bandsaw.

Tried using my dremmel to shape the micarta but wasn't making much progress. Tried removing the bulk of it with the drill.

Not exactly a perfect shop, but it works for now.

You should be able to pick up a jigsaw fairly cheap until you want to invest in a ban saw. A jigsaw should cut the micarta for you.

Nothing wrong with that shop at all. Looks like a good workspace to me.

band saws and jigsaws are great, but when you can't get a hold of one, a coping saw + a little elbow grease works great. i've been using mine a lot lately.

i got my band saw new on ebay for something like $150 shipped.

That seems like a great deal, Gee a guy could just put 550 cord on the handle and call it finished.

Yup that's what my Christmas presents are going to be this year to my dad, brother, father-in-law and wife are going to be. Different color 550 cord with matching sheaths that I will make. Figures out to be about $25 per knife.

Clean??? That shop looks downright virginal!! No clutter,no mess. Mine looks like my propane torch blew up..... NO WAY I'm taking pics of it. But DON'T move anything, or I won't be able to find it!!!

Yeah, you're hooked now....

I STILL don't know how tough Micarta is.... I haven't "Graduated" to that yet. I'm still working with wood on mine. I have some antler, but need to straighten it before I can think about using it. At least you have a saw..... My Dremel is all I use for cutting.
