looking for my first bow

Like the title says, I'm looking for my first bow. It has to be a compound, and preferably have a pull from 50-70 lbs. Any good recomendations?

I know absolutel nothing about compound bows. I leave that to the guys down at Dick's Sporting goods. If I learn about compounds I will have to trade brain space for something else and I am already having trouble finding my way home.

i just bought my first one at the begining of the summer. i bought a bear charger. it came as a package with a sight, whisker biscut, and a quiver. very good bow, im very happy with it. also i got mine at gandermountain and they had an indor practice range so you can test it out before you buy it. i would sugest trying to find a place like that. they will tune it for you as well so it will be just about the perfect draw weight.

You can drop alot of money on wheels and cams. First go to a bow shop and find your correct draw length and draw weight. Find one that is comfortable, but don't buy one.

Once you get your draw length and weight, start hitting the pawn shops, craigslist, ebay, and yard sales. I've found awsome cam bows at yardsales for 30 bucks.

The bow is the cheapest part of your set up. You will need sights, a peep, poss. a stabilizer, a release, arrow rest, bow quiver, arrows and tips. All these range in prices and can get pretty pricy.

Some retail shops are now selling whole cam bow set-ups and if you search you may be able to get a set up for less than 400 bucks. I prefer the cheap route and build my own selfbows for alot less money, but more man hours.
