Oddly enough googling alaska meteors brings up several stories from different years.... just how often does this sorta thing happen ??

All day long every day. Truly. The beauty of living on a planet with an atmosphere (aside from the O2 of course) is that it protects us from the constant bombardment from meteoroides and asteroids that slam into us. When a meteor shower occurs then we get the fancy light show. We are currently at the end of the Quadrantids, which occur right at the end of the year and finish up, usually, at the end of the first week in the new year.

And, yeah, I wouldn't want one to thump my house either. I'd be out the door with no thought of the BOB. I'd be too busy running.

In reference to post #3, that's why we call him Minister of Science....although I was expecting something a little more scientifical (there's yer word for the day, a 10 year old taught me that one) like....it's the Thunder God --he hates geese hence the attacks on Uncle Sourdough's neighborhood,-- something along those lines.

However, in the case of Anchorage and surrounding area it's the Thunder God. He can be heard through the mountain the white man calls Redoubt and he throws down flaming rocks at the man they call Geese Keeper.
