    Default solar power pack advice

    hey hey,

im thinking of buying a solar power pack.

id like to use it for small devices only. maybe a 13" t.v., small radio, small lights, that sort of thing.

maybe something along the lines of this:

    RESIDENTIAL RENEWABLE ENERGY TAX CREDITS
Consumers who install solar energy systems (including solar water heating and solar electric systems), small wind systems, geothermal heat pumps, and residential fuel cell and microturbine systems can receive a 30% tax credit for systems placed in service before December 31, 2016; the previous tax credit ($2,000) cap no longer applies.

I don't know much about solar packs, but I do know Uncle Sam will ease the burden of buying it. Good luck

Pick up the Dec/Jan issue134 of Home Power. They have a full breakdown of 230 top panels as well as their 2010 buyer's guide.
    I know what hunts you.

Affordable-solar.com has portable solar products from GSE. The panels fold up for storage or trasport. and with a simple y cable you can connect 4 of them together. add a couple charge controllers, the accessory kit, a small invertor and a good deep-cycle battery and you have your own portable power-plant capable of a portable dvd player, I-Pod for music or whatever, a laptop, and your t.v. and whatever else you can think of.
the panels are somewhat expensive but you do get what you pay for, and the gse's are what our military use.

    thanks,
Have you got a small TV with a converter in it?
reason I ask, is I have a 5 in portable, which no longer works, no converter.

Like the kit, looks heavy if your gonna carry it.
Have seen roll up panels for back packs, much lighter.

And since it's been brought it up, I wonder if the "TV" bands still work on the portable band radios?
    I would guess not.

That's actually a very good question. I pulled out my hand held and, believe it or not, I picked up one UHF TV station. All the rest are gone, though, since we converted to digital.
