Default Update on my moving tomorrow

I had posted on here asking about a way to make a very safe stove, explained I would be without electric for a month due to finances, my daughter went and paid the deposit for me so now the electric will be on when FPL decides to turn them on for me.
I certainly appreciate my daughter doing this for me but it still brings to mind the fact we could all be facing situations in our lives where we dont have a relative/friend to bail us out or best of all maybe we decide we are sick of every cent we have going to some company/store and want to at least have some hands on practice before we strike out on our own "to live off the land" as it were. I have 3 little grand children whom I have tried to show a better way of life to just like I did my daughter but my g/kids are house/tv broke. My daughter left our Path a long time ago when she was very young and started hanging out with un-like minded kids so its back to just me still trying to learn(However they did think I was Da Bomb when I made the little coffee can stove and boiled water on it for coffee, them some hot chocolate, heated some canned food and we all sat in the yard and ate it, they got up the sticks albeit they were wet. I kept it going with lint from the dryer, cotton balls and stuff like that, btw, I also soaked a roll of toliet paper in rubbing alcohol, (first I pulled out the tube to use for the little hickies as a quick fire starter I learned about in this forum) the paper actually burned. It would keep someone from freezing to death in a serious situation. Its certainly nothing you want to inhale.

    Cool Hmmm.....

So the "Stove thread" is now moot, huh? Great news, you've got the electricity going to be turned on! Now about the "wet wood" Using a small knife, like a pocket knife, you can scrape the wet, outside, layer of the branch off, getting to the dry part underneath. Also a candle works really well for getting even the most stubborn "wet wood" too burn!

That is good news. Good for you. The daughter and those grand kids will all come around in time.

Soldier, I posted back to you. Thanks, all, yes, it was a good day with my g/kids, even my daughter stopped watching tv long enough to join in the fun! Sarge, thats a great idea to whittle scrape off the wet part of the wood, I have just always doggedly tried to dry it. This is really an informative and helpful site! So happy I found y'all.
