A Song by one of my friends

a song that my friend Susan Boyle wrote on the Nantahala river at a camp ground near the Smokey Mtn,national park. her Mother appears several times in the Foxfire books .i kind of follow her work. its called cry me a river by Susan Boyle

no. i typed the link and discovered that it didnt work. they spamed me on the link, and had to search for her upload. if you look at it youll see that the link is correct , but doesnt open the youtube file . sorry about that everybody.

the Boyle family pushed for the completion of the Foxfire books. Susan's grand dad makes a hand rooled iron flint lock rifle in one of the books so check that out. her granddad gave me a shingle froe. its a cherrished gift (hand forged)

Those books are great. I am really pleased with the results of that little experiment. Is her grand-dad in the foxfire books that talk about making shingles? There is a pretty good article about wood-splitting, and shingle making. Some gnarly old guys outlined the whole process with pictures.

yes, the gentleman making shingles that was featured in foxfire is her granddad

We attended the same church.I had made 3 poplar log benches for the entryway to the fellowship hall. And she introduced herself to me and I slowly became a family friend. I learned some Blacksmithing from them and how to use split logs instead of milled lumber to make furnature and cabinets!
